TRIP REPORT
Most of the participants reached the meeting point at 6 am, then we waited for the Pakwheel members for another half an hour, since they were not famaliar with the meetig place hence were not able to rightly judge the time to reach the meeting point from the coziness of their beds
We started our journey towards the deflation point (from where the offroading to be started and the cars tyre pressure will be deflated to 15 psi inroder to get a better footprint and let the cars afloat on the sand)
within minuted all the cars were deflated and ready to Roll, we then have a briefing, about basic rules of offroading and Do's and Dont's of offroading.
We started rolling at arround 7:10 am, and very soon i.e. on the very first Drop Sheryar had to pay the Toll Tax to desert in form of the Skirt attached to his front bumper. after that Sheryar said what the Heck, and continue the drive with even more confidence.
I tried to take the route straight avoiding side sloping ( a phenomena where you drive on the side of the Dune slope parallel to dune ridge splashing sand around and over your car with a constant momentum) since it is quite dangerous and one needs enough skills, experience and capability of his car, so it drove every one on straight ups and downs, well actually more downs than ups, just one question to participants, did any one feel that we descended through a lot of slopes but did not feel climbing up much ?, can any one tell me the reason ?
Basit in Range also drove well, in beginning he was really scared, but then a senior offroader decided to grab his passenger seat and encourage him, after than Basit started feeling confidence and drive rest of the patch quite remarkably for the first timer. with couple of stucks. on one sport while coming down from a slope he almost fell in to the bush, but then his navigator helped him come out the trap.
I gradually increased the difficulty level of the drive and took the convoy to the height of fossil rock, at this spot sheryar pajero faced some difficulty to climb the height due to very soft sand, may be slightly higher pressure in tyres and slight inexperience. at this spot I felt it is too much for the newbies and didnt want to scare them away so decided to go around the Fossil rock instead of dropping off from the Fossil rock, which is a huge slope an absolute joy.
by this time it was already 9 and temperature was touching 41, the sand became a hot oven, i felt my feet were in oven and not in sand, when i tried to recover my car.
we all safely reached the ADNOC station get the air filled, had some chit chat and left for home with happy faces and satisfied adrenaline in veins.
I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Waqas, Adrian, Rahim and other EM4x4 members for extending their support to conduct this newbie drive.
Hope to see you guys again in our play ground i.e SAND DUES
