    Default The "Undisclosed Project"

Some of you may have noticed my mentioning an "Undisclosed Project" in my signature, for quite some days, now.

The only reason I'd kept this new project hidden away from prying eyes, was because I'd been sufficiently burned by one of the Impalas that I'd initially purchased (and later, had to return), for me to be QUITE wary of "jumping the gun" so to speak. This somewhat-cautious, not to mention sneakily-clandestine approach will continue for a little while, since I haven't YET laid my hands on the project vehicle...but I thought it'd be nice to open the thread, nonetheless. Perhaps in anticipation of the coming days...and more so, to vent my own excitement at this latest would-be acquisition!

Without divulging too many secrets, allow me to say that this project is also one of "those" cars (much like the '65 and '67 Impalas) which had always fascinated me. To my mind, I'm of the firm belief that there are only two such cars that have ever been built that are so distinctive, so unique, and are so immediately recognisable. By a twist of fate...BOTH of these vehicles are from the same year of manufacture, too.

I realise that this is like opening up a veritable Pandora's Box. Volkswagen enthusiasts will probably say that the Beetle is the most unmistakeable vehicle ever built. There'll be some amongst us who will insist that this accolade should go to the Mini. Yet others will state that the Austin Morris is the most unique and most easily-distinguishable. Off-roaders will be sure to press a case for the FJ40 and/or the Willys. And in a way, they're all correct.

However, this project isn't a VW, or an Austin, or an FJ, or a Willys. No. Not quite.

This project is an architectural wonder, when it comes to automobiles. The year to which its model belongs, is celebrated almost universally, as one of the most amazing years of automotive history. The vehicle itself is an absolute peach...an amazing, breathtaking, simply jaw-gapingly-beautiful piece; that has remained in absolutely pristine condition. It's SO perfect, even in its completely unrestored state, that I'm pretty certain that there is NO such example of its vintage...ANYWHERE.

Now...I realise that I'm going out on a limb, when I say this. And for now, I'm not going to post photographs or anything that is going to support this claim. At least NOT until I have the papers/documents of the vehicle held in the palm of my hand, and have the keys in my pocket.

Why then, am I even writing this post?

Well...for the simple reason that I just couldn't help myself from sharing the advent of such portentous news with everyone. Because, despite my best efforts, I was simply incapable of holding on for "just a few days longer". Kya karein...control nahin hota.

Stay tuned, brothers. In the next few days, Allah be willing...I'll be sharing news of this very SPECIAL vehicle, with all and sundry!

    Such behaviour is not appreciated,
Although I have had reports about your checking out some cars further hints about the object of affection in question would be appreciated.

Just a couple more days, please, Faraz.

Actually...in order of priority there's a choice of two-three vehicles which are under consideration. Which one of them will be ultimately picked up, is still somewhat unclear. In my mind, though, I have no doubt as to which one I would WANT to get the most. Whether or not I get it, is something I'll come to know over the weekend. If not one...then the other. If not the other...then another. Kind of like a "tu nahin, aur sahi. Aur nahin, koi aur sahi" scenario.

Insha Allah, when the situation will clear up...I'll be more than happy to share a billion pictures and a bazillion ideas with everyone. For now, though...I'm afraid that all of us are going to have to stay on tenterhooks for just a while longer.

    Alright so it's either a 59 or a 57 Chevy Wagon then.
