Look if I were you. I would use the LC Prado for utility job etc. Like bringing heavier objects in it.

CNG Cylinders take more baggage space in it. So I don't recommend it.

Keep it as a secondary car, If you're gonna buy it.

All GDI Galants and Pajeros in Pakistan have suffered this illfate and most repair shops have fleeced money in the name of new high pressure pump, new injectors and other stuff.

off road vehicles were never meant to be boats - they will be rough, the defender does not even have a dashboard, its all metal - You seem to be a soft offroad type who likes to waft around in a boat or something, I love the way a defender or G behave on the rough, they are unstoppable. My point was for your "pomp" - that for me showing off a toyota LC prado is cartoonishStavic are practical but lack of service expertise has made it a tough biscuit to chew, the engine is MB, but the electrics are Delphi which has its own unique troubleshooting sequence - which is seriously lacking in Pakistan. I had the Delphi scanner but the parts prices usually made the owners wince and cry. How does Rs 40,000/- per injector sound to you?? usually caused by ustaad "shaaart testing" it or if a glow plug breaks in the head, it requires a special service tool to extract them or removal of the head which requires all head bolts etc. Most are now running 1KZ engines, which IMO is a joke for this vehicle.

    so short answer is no...
that sucks...It was such a nice family car.

    I googled delphi scanner...
Wholesale Delphi Scanner Tool-Buy Delphi Scanner Tool lots from China Delphi Scanner Tool wholesalers on Aliexpress.com
there's one for $100, not so expensive I guess...But isnt there usb connectors and pc softwares for such things?
And how come one injector for rs40,000? thats over $400dollars !! You can probably buy a high end injector for that much...02-10 Lamborghini Murcielago Fuel Injectors from Blitz at Andy's Auto Sport

And regarding offroaders, I think volverine is not looking for a daily roller coaster ride...he wants something you can drive everyday and has luxuries...I think range rover has good offroading capabilities plus very good luxury. but its out of the budget (the new ones).

the unbranded scanners made in china are useless at best - they do not have any capability to interrogate the CANBUS or even pull out the logs.

Rs 40,000/- was when dollar was 65 or 70 rupees, its about the same range as the toyota 1KD injectors. MB CDI ones range a little higher. The reason is that they are piezo type and hold a pressure of 24,000 to 30,000 psi.

Ok. Stavic is a good Minivan. Since it's a Mercedes Benz. But Ssangyong also made 7-seater SUVs and it's the Rexton. Rexton costs for 18-22 lacs and it has all the luxuries you need. Like Dual A/C. Harrier/RX 300 would have been a good choice but it's not a 7-seater.

5 cyl engine, about 200,000 is correct for the replacement injectors, but all dont fail at once. the injectors dont fail normally in use but ustaad "shaart testing" it will cause the ECU to shut down that injector, and most probably the engine will go into limp mode of 1500 rpm, This can be rectified by resetting the system which is not "battery disconnect" its a function called by the scanner after verifying the fault and operational requirement. If it is took on regular service intervals to dealerships with the correct tester, they can run cleaning tests and also pull the logs and check for any past faults that happened during working. Directly trying to fire the injectors with test leads is a sure way to fry them completely - I have seen that on toyota 1KD ones. The stupid testing and ham handed approach to repair of this engine will cause pain to the owner - mostly in replacing unnecessary parts. to quote an example I have pulled 11 pages of fault log on a Rexton which was refusing to start, the vehicle had never been interrogated and it kept all faults, the last 5 faults were what shut down the engine - failure of fuel pressure sensor causing BUS1 (vehicle drive control) to shut down the engine in order to protect it from damage. All the previous recommendations was the replacement of injectors - rail, regulator and pump (the total cost being WOW) - The actual repair cost was just the sensor, its replacement labor and diagnostic fee.

The new Hiaces are quite nice too, and if an on road SUV is a requirement then a 2WD Hilux Surf is good, because the Ssangyong Rexton or Daewoo Musso (both MB clones) would be a pain when it comes to replacement of parts both mechanical and body.
