Dubai: A young motorist was arrested by Dubai Police for making deadly modifications worth Dh250,000 to his car.
The arrest comes as part of the campaign by Dubai Police to seize modified vehicles used for illegal racing.

The young driver was arrested for racing with the modified vehicle which put him and other roads users in danger. The modifications allowed the car to reach speeds of up to 350km/h. The modification allowed the motorist to use jet fuel.

The arrest was made following Dubai Police’s decision to intensify monitoring of reckless driving during Ramadan, Director of the Traffic Department at Dubai Police, Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein said.

He said that Dubai Police have already seized 120 vehicles and are pursuing 1,700 others for causing disturbance on the road.

The erring motorist was held after a Hollywood style chase drama that involved the young man as well as several police patrols.

<!-- Link Package Module-->The young man raced off after the police patrol ordered to stop him while he was involved in a race with another car.

Ignoring the order the two cars continued the race and a chase ensued.

Al Zafein said that the motorist only slowed down when he came across speedbreakers and he turned off the car’s lights and continued driving his vehicle, which was without a registration number.

The chase ended when the motorist sped into one of the residential compounds in Al Mizhar area and tried to escape.

Though the motorist resisted arrest and fought for a while, the police finally nailed him, reported an Arabic daily.

Despite the disturbance caused by the young man the house owner refused to file a complaint against him, fearing the motorist or his friends may take revenge on him or his family.

Upon inspection the police found that the car was completely modified. Some of the modifications include a jet fuel tank, a speed enhancer, a computer used to switch the speed enhancer on and off, in addition to massive changes to the car’s body and engine, all intended to enhance the car’s speed up to 350km/h.

When the young driver was asked where the modifications were made, he stated that they were done at a garage that offers a special rate for the purpose of advertising and attracting customers.

He also stated that these garages target young men like him and that some of his friends had made modifications to their cars worth Dh300,000 that enhances their car’s speed to 400km/h.

The case is being referred to the traffic prosecution with charges of reckless driving, unlawful car modifications, expired registration and resisting police.

Imagine if I filled my Mehran's fuel tank with that jet fuel. Explosion upon ignition. Lolz
Anyways, those rich boyz can afford to do such stuff on their roads with such vehicles. By the way, any expert who could put us wise on the fact if jet fuel could be used in passenger vehicles??

    Maclaren GTR '97 "Long Tail"

Dubai Police Sieze Nissan Patrol powered by Jet Fuel - 800px Fina McLaren F1 GTR

Wikipedia says "At Le Mans 1997, the car reached 317 kilometres per hour (196.97 mph) on the Mulsanne straight. This was still slightly slower than some of the field (Porsche 911 GT1 Evo - 326 kilometres per hour (202.57 mph), Nissan R390 GT1 - 319 kilometres per hour (198.22 mph), TWR Porsche Joest LMP - 320 kilometres per hour (198.84 mph)"

Beats me as to how a Nissan Patrol would reach 300kmph even with Nitrous Oxide, but anything is possible in Dubai......

sounds like BS, the transmission/diff in that truck cannot take it to 350 km/h. and JP does not give the result of burning petrol..

Seems as if this news piece was to entertain a group of people..

Dubai police donest give any chances. Its not wise to do stunts there on roads, especially when there are circuits for racing purpose.

so wheres the proof?? - this is a cheesy video at best. If you think that any truck can be taken to 400 km/h with the right amount of mods - then let the drinks roll.. All the best to you man.

It took VW serious money to get their Veyron to do 400+ km/h. - Serious as in crazy and lots of time with a entire boat of design engineers.

Don't have that much technical knowledge and this is just my personel opinion.

However, doing speeds upto 350kmph is a definite possibility in an SUV. I wouldn't compare these to F1 cars or Bugatti or other applications, all of which are meant to do the 300kmph+ speeds regularly, managebally, reliably and be able to brake at the end of straights in good time and do it over n over again for the duration of at 50+ lap s of F1 race, or for 24 hours at Lemans, or for the duration of your ownership in case of Bugatti, or SLRs, Mclarens etc etc.

These Nissan Patrol high speed runs are done infrequently on extremely long stretches of roads. There are tyres availabe for road cars to go 400kmph, so I am sure these SUV owners have them on. Also most of them have plenty aerodynamic, driveline and suspension mods, and mind you these vehicles are not necessarily the same one which they will than take to use for dunes bashing etc. Porsche official website has Cayenne Turbo top speed 278kmph with only 500bhp. And no one doubts that many of these SUVs in GCC country can produce in excess of 1000whp, some much higher, so doing single pass high speed runs is definitely possibility. And I highly doubt if any of these runs are with the top speeds maintained for more than a minute or so, maybe even less. All those top speed runs at Salt Lake Flats are done that way, those machines are not for repeated / daily use. These SUVs probably visit the Garage after every three-four high speed runs or maybe even more frequently.
