Can somebody please guide me on this urgently.

Actually I have recently developed a love for fj40s and need your help on it. The vehicle that I'm buying had a v8 engine in place but the owner wants to use that in some other jeep of his. Please reply quick all the experienced people out there...!

By fuel economy I mean around 6km/l....I know fj40 is not supposed to provide car-like average..

    Expected mileage from 2jz engine?

    A pertinent question I guess....

I run a 1UZ V8 FJ40 with 33 inch BFG MTs, 4.1 diffs and H150 5 speed gear box. I recently tried daily driving it to check how far I could stretch the economy bit. Was shifting very early, skipping gears and rolling out in 2nd from traffic lights etc etc etc on drives between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The fuel ecomony figures were so good that I dare not mention them out here until I am able to double check them again

Anyhow what I am saying is that if one can manage it, the 1UZ is now a strong all-round contender for one of the best swaps in an FJ40! At least in my books i.e.

On tires stick to Yokohama / Bridgestone ATs and you can't go wrong as long as you get a fresh new Japanese set!

    salams SK,

you can't be wrong about 1UZ. About the tires, what are your thoughts on all those people running BFG's etc from those smuggled lots? You know how high are the prices for Japanese ones nowadays. How bad are those lots usually or is it possible if one is lucky enough you may find something good and kind of fresh? What are the usual sources to checkout these? Do you think General Grabber AT2's would be available here somewhere?

I have heard that very good lot of tires has arrived with the IJP Principal road kabarias! Apart from that the usual place are the shops at the Rawal Road chowk. I was very reluctant buying my tires from Rawal Road, Barzan or something is the name of the store and he deals in 4x4 tires. Was getting a good price, tires were dated 2010 and tires looked good so decided to take a punt. Initially the tires were somewhat stiff on the road but slowly have warmed up quite a bit and I have no complaints with them having thoroughly torture tested them in Jhal Magsi and Cholistan. Do look at the manufacturering date very carefully and haggle the price!

Note that BFGs are heavy tires and not the best for economy. In general, Yokohama ATs is the tire I would recommend hands down as my all-round tire of choice!

SK, I hope you aren't being sarcastic! :p

I need help making my 1UZ more fuel efficient. It's not throwing any trouble codes but fuel economy is less than stellar.
