    Dear All.

Require input/suggestion/advice from experts regarding installing 2JZ-GE in FJ40 1984 model.
Current set up is 2F with four forward gear.

    Thanks in advance.

They're actaully HIGH center of gravity vehicles and the engine in question is a 2JZ-GE and not a GTE which is fairly less powerful than a GTE and wouldnt be too bad of an option.

but whats the point if high speed then yes with gear swap if economy then both are the same
off roading not much help ful
exmple 2f is like diesel engine and 2jz is petrol
means 2f is more powerful at 1500 rpm and 2jz works on 4000rpm
    higher reving engine
so again whats the point is why u want to swap

if the primary usage of your j40 is offroading then the only solution is diesel and diesel only.

Only Off Roading is not the objective.
It has to be used for local driving at times.

Brother life is precious cherish it. Figure out what u need your fj40 for and than decide. BUt which ever way u want to go forget about high reving engine they turn fj40 in to a death trap. Popular options are 1kz/b2/b13-t in diesel.

I would think the 2JZ-GE (not the turbo charged GTE!) in an FJ40 should be fine enough if you mate it to the original gearbox and diffs. Plenty of 2JZ conversions in CJ7s/CJ5s by now though not many perhaps in FJ40s because of various reasons. Fuel economy is a good reason of swapping 2F with 2JZ even though its not the best match for the drivetrain...

The FJ40 gears and axles are quite heavy and bulky and though it will be a very fast car, it will not be tremendously overpowered. On the contrary, the heavy drivetrain would put the 2JZ to a challenge and life expectancy of the engine and parts may not be comparable to a slightly bigger engine. 4 wheel disk brakes and 31 inch tires with wide/backspaced rim would be a must!

Well, this is a comprehensive answer addressing pros and cons of swaping engine in question.
    Thanks SuhaibKiani.

2jzge is a bad choice. Go for 5vz instead or anything which is designed for SUV applications.

the 2JZ-GE needs to be revved a bit to make any usable torque. Unless you have super low gears I see it as a liability as it weighs a lot too.

    Default 2JZGE in FJ40

2JZGE isnt that powerful when compared with the GTE version.

I have swapped my CJ5 with a 2JZ-GE and honestly it's not a death trap at all. The vehicle is extremely quite on idle.
Diesel noise irritated me alot. I have decent power not something that would kill me unless my time is up. Mated it to an auto tranny along with 4x4 resulting in a decent daily driver and off-roader. I would suggest you to go for it.

What is your approx quarter mile time (for assessment of acceleration purposes only) and approx RPM at 120 Km/H?
Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.

Never checked. Been working on another project lately. The CJ has been parked after the swap hardly driven 500km on the 2JZ.
