Default DIY: Painting my Nissan Patrol

    Hello my 4x4 brothers.

Some of you may know how I've been working on my so called secret project at home....well, here it is!
A few weeks ago, I was debating over whether to paint my NP or not. Sure enough, when you have friends with as big 'keerdhaas' as yourself, you end up doing things you never thought you would. So yes, my friend Irfan and I got the idea to paint my Nissan Patrol at home. I figured I could learn a new skill and do the kind of job that I would be most satisfied with as opposed to being at the mercy or denters and painters who would charge an arm n leg for the job. Although, I must point out that saving money was not the priority here, it was more about satisfying the 'shaukeen pagal wala bug' that most of us insane car enthusiasts have here on this forum
Here is the story of how all this happened and where we have reached so far....enjoy the pics and do contribute to the thread.

Assembling parts on and off is really tedious. Patience is key.

@machine: bro I dont know whats up with the orientation of the pics, they preview fine but when I upload PW auto-rotates them or something. MODS please look into this, I would really appreciate if this can be corrected. THanks.

@qwertypoiu: Yes bro, inside remains white for now. Abhi himat nahi hai maybe later.

@haiderjaved: Thanks buddy. Wish I could take time off but not possible right now.

Wonderful! You are definitely very bold to do this at home. Good to see that you are doing it very carefully. The more hard work and details you will give it at this stage, the more sharp and clean it will look afterwards. Color choice is also very good. And yes, as you said, its all about doing things by yourself which shows that you have a real affection with your ride. I would suggest that remove everything possible at least from outsides before painting. And yes, you can have a possibility of doing a very clean paint job at home as most of the workshops are around dirty areas and the paint catches dirt easily while spraying. Good Luck! Looking forward to see the final product after compounding and waxing. Keep it up, In Sha Allah it will be Great!

    Default Blue baby! Blue!

So here it is.....the blue bit is somewhat complete. What remains now is the finishing. Removing the bull bar also gives a much needed change and different look. On the agenda was also to change the color of the front grill. Changed the grey of the grill to black and the Nissan logo from white to red.

Removing the stickers also changes things. I'm still trying to decide whether to have the side stickers or not.

    Default Compound n polish

Luckily I found a guy near my house who had the buffering machine and he was nice enough to come to the house to do the compound and polish. This is just the initial rubbing. To get a more glossy and shiny look, 2 more coats of paint and maybe 2 more coats of lacquer will be applied.

Next step was the grill. We also decided to move the 4 fog lights that were on the bull bar to the roof.

    Default Tada!

And here are the grill and fog lights. The mean look is finally starting to come out now
Painting the grill made a huge difference. That bad a$$ness of what a 4x4 should be is slowly creeping in from vision to reality. Still need to do the 2 layers of paint and lacquer. Results coming up soon...
