    Default Project: UN Auction LC100 Rebuild

    Dear Friends

    I m about to buy a UN auction Land Cruiser LC100, 1999 auctioned in 2006, its just basic version with manual gear and 1HZ non turbo engine 4.2 D., with rear and front diff locks.

    I have plans to rebuild. 1 HD-FTE engine with original auto tans, new beige dash board, and all interior in original beige, with power windows etc,
    every thing available in shoba , discussed with mechanic , truper ustad, for all job
    What do u suggest

    This sounds like a terrific project. The 100 series is a great SUV to begin with, and being based in Peshawar, sourcing of parts etc wouldn't be very difficult, too.

    Asad .. Well it depends .. If u are doing this rebuild to make a off reader then it's a awesome project and Don't change the engine and gear ... And if u do .. Give me the old engine and gear at all costs ...

    But if u are planning to restore and make a daily runner out of it with luxury and power like ur Prado .. Then it's a BIG NO NO ... U would be spending a fortune fixing it and would never be satisfied with the end result .. Trust me spend a little more and get a LC as you want all fixed up and you would be able to enjoy it just like I enjoy mine on and off road ... Peace of Mind ... TRUST ME !!!!

    ya yasir i started this thread to get the idea what experts say about it, yes i wanted to make it a luxury cruiser but now will think about it. Thanks for ur input

    Words of wisdom Indeed, and if you are talking about the one who's add is on pakwheels then i think it is seriously over priced, one should not pay more then 22-25 for that, and it is my belief that if you keep looking you will find a reasonable 99-01 model with 1hd-fte auto transmission around 30-35.

    Now if you go with this vehicle i would propose a mean type of upgrades for it so that you can ram it in walls and throw it in 20 feet deep mud pits , Arb bumper with fender flayers sliders 4" lift with 33" tires.

    Oh yeah it is not 100 series it is 105 series :p, and it has different setup of suspension then 100 series

    There is difference in body mounts between 100 series and 105 series. Secondly even if you spend 15 lacs on the 105, you won't get it to par with 100 series let alone 100 series Active Height Control version. If you like the 105, buy it as is and don't spend too much on it as its not a Independent Front Suspension Setup so it can never be a very comfortable vehicle but the best offroad. The reason you find non turbo engine with manual trans with minimal sensors and zero gadgets on a 105 is to make it as reliable as possible for expeditions. But I personally hate that engine anyhow .     Ok off roaders tell me, if i buy this 105 and use it as it is just for extreme hardcore off roading, is it more capable and stronger than rkr, wrangler etc, an we can do all sorts of water cross, sand bashing, rock climbing etc, i dont want to uplift the suspension as it loses the orignality, just put large off road tyres and any other suspension repairs if needed. Guide pl

    well One Should Keep Such Mods N It So That It Should perform best OverAll
    like U Said Rock Climbing ... ur 105 Must Be Light Weight & Use Crawlers Tyres .. Not MTz Or ATz
    Then Water Cross .. ur 105 Should Be Heavy In Weight & MTz On It ..
    As Every Track Has It's Own Value Of Performing It & So on ..

    So my Point Is That Don't Compare It With Other Rkr, Wangler In Performace Bz They All R Other Breed Of Machine.
    105 Is Really High Power By It's Engine Size & Body ..
    & Just Putting OffRoad Big Wheels Doesn't Means It Ll Pull Out Max Power To Perform Job Well Done ..
    Stock SUV With OffRoad Tyres Will Also Perform Good But The One Offraoding U R Talking must Have Some Mods In SUV

    So what I suggest is that ..
    105 Engine & Manual Gear is Already Perfect With Power To its Gear Ratio .. No Need To Change,
    Suspension Uplift is important for Offroading in any kind of track, roll cage, all water proofing, steering Damper,
    keep 2 Different sort of wheels set Of Tracks, OffRoad bumpers, diff lock, gear maintenance, Keep It Vey Simple
    & Ur High Moral Will Make ur 105 A good OffRoader Rig.

    Rest The Gurus Will Guide U More ..
    Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall.
    Torque is how far you take the wall with you.

    I would totally agree with what Sheryar Bro mentioned. And suspension change does not ruin originality. Changing engine and dashboard does. But then who cares about originality when you want to enjoy the car properly.

    There are bolt on kits for suspension just bolt it on and you are good to go, secondly there is not even a single Suv made till now which will never get stuck or perform flawless in every field.

    Coming to think of it you can do a few changes to your Prado and achieve reasonable results too. In both ways either make it hard core off roader or a bit more fast etc...

    If u want a reliable rig with minimum amount of luxury at Ur service this is the one.
    1hz is a very slow engine compared to 1hdfte which comes in a 98 vx cruiser. Suspension is not ifs( independent front suspension) so ride is harder. It's no daily runner but a great tourer with minimal complication.
    Turning it in to a vx cruisers is a no go, u r better off getting 98 vx in 3.5 million range. Hope this helps
