Question HELP: Overheating problem with A/C

pajero gen 1 turbo diesel 4d56.

the problem is that when i turn on the a/c, after 20-30 min the temp needle guage goes at 50% in the middle & that makes me start to worry, and afterwards when the car stops after long drive, most of the water from radiator is evaporated & i have to refill it & top it up, the radiator coolant reservoir bottle is working fine, and everything ok with no-leaks in radiator & condensor fan also working.

This problem only occurs when turning A/C on.
But also, there is no coolant in the radiator, im only using water.

is it necessary to put in coolant? if yes , then which company coolant & how much?
Or do i have A/C Compressor problem ?
    help is needed asap.
    Thnx for ur time.

Dear this engine has the ability to get overheat, and turbo makes it more if inter cooler is not fitted....there might b some issue with the compressor also but the main issue with this engine is this that it overheats and which leads to the engine seize.

it is recommended that u should use at least 2 bottles or 2 liter coolant in the radiator...moreover u should install a cut out relay on the ac fan.

moreover while driving keep its RPM below 3000.

if the engine is overhauled and is installed with after market sleeves, that can also b 1 of the reason.for further details feel free to call me at 321-4392122

it would make a lil difference...but if the engine is not properly overhauled ur issue will not b resolved ...i mean there r multiple reasons but 1 reason can be improper head facing ...1 can b timing adjustment...other can b after market sleeves...multiple other issues...

Condenser fan is working all good, it starts at the A/C push button, it is doing its job perfectly.
& engine is all in genuine condition, no alteration/modification or aftermarket fixes.

Check engine radiator fan.. is it mechanical viscous coupled? It looses its viscous coupling properties over time.. fails to pull enough air through radiator to cool off when not moving

Fan is locked with permanent fully engaged setting,
thus drawing high volume of air continuously.

    thermostat is all OK
besides, as im from Karachi, the temperature here does'nt needs thermostat,
as it is strictly only needed at 0 Degree Celsius or less to warm up the engine asap.

either engine is creating gas or your pulley belts are getting too much friction resulting in compressor heating up thus heating up engine too

Thermostat is absolutely required no matter wherevu live.. it regulates the coolant flow

the cooling fan being locked can be very bad - it can sap upto 10 hp from the engine, the clutch itself is a very neat device, it couples up when hot and decouples when rpms or fan load becomes high.

In your case it seems like some air is trapped in the engine/radiator and the coolant flow is hampered.

    Guyz,
Let me underline the scenario again:

Vehicle only gets HOT in IDLE position
for 15-20 min & looses cooling effect gradually.

As the vehicle is back on the road, then everything is OK.

So here the problem is. Just change the fan pully with a smaller one and it'll increase it's circulation even in slow rpm. I hope it works.

I have found the engine oil cooler to be a good addition to turbo diesel engines to help keep them run slightly cooler. Understand that some Gen 1s / GenIIs have oil coolers installed from factory. Nevertheless, there seems to be a basic problem with the cooling system here....
