Default Nissan Safari Suspension and Shoes upgrade

    Hello friends

i need advice from u guys regarding suspension upgradation for my new ride Nissan Safari 1998 (Y61). I want to install heavy duty shocks and springs like Ranchos, Old Man EMU, Iron man etc, i checked all webs for them and found most of them r offering complete set which has shocks , springs and uplift parts. I dont want to uplift the vehicle, but cant find coil springs in stock size. Is this ok if i just put shocks and use the stock springs with them, would they give performance ?

Also i want to change the previously installed snow tyres and want to put A/T. The stock size is 265-70-16. I want to put 275or 285-70-16 in yokohama, bridgestone or dunlop. Do u guys recommend this size or i should keep the stock size. Would these big tyres effect the turning radious or touch any inside part.

I would be very pleased to have ur valuable comments

I finally put the new shoes, Bridgestone Dueller A/T 275-70-16.

    1. Fresh engine is better if u can arrange from somewhere but its Japanese driven engines having no guarantee.
    2. Engine Bore : Check it up from your mechanic, if your engine is weak and is not opened before, so bore it with out putting glass, then put 0.50 piston which will also increase the Horse Power of Engine.
    3. Tyres mubarak.

Original Nissan Patrol engine which will fit bolt on without and altritions is what we call original, and that 4.8l is thats why i suggested. Its same as you said earlier
find the new kabli engine which would n the same TD42.
you put a kabli one or this 4.8 baat same hai.

Now if want to **** up everything then but 2uz :p.

keeping originality mind set then putting a new engine effects it as number on book will be changed.

Its an expensive engine even in Dubai,,, good piece in stock condition would cost between 23000 to 28000 AEDs. Youth in Dubai/UAE is pagaal for this engine and use it for all types of modifications/sports. Have seen many TB48DE with stock 280 BHPs raised to over 1000 BHPs, thanks mainly to 16 inch tyre sized turbos.

I have a rally prepared 3 door Y60 with this engine,,, its quite fast and very torquey. Fuel average is good too, gives around 8 km/l on Highway, never used it in city so don't know city's fuel consumption. During rally runs, it gives about 3 km/l, which is almost double than Evo

If your engine has too many problems then I would suggest 2uzfe aswell. It has been done before to the newer shape safari so must not be an issue.

asad bhai i've recently gone through the same thing, choosing suspension and tires....

basically u should look at ur needs from the setups, the springs from ironman, arb, terrafirma etc etc are there to either give u lift, extra load carrying capacity or both. load carrying is really important if ur going to use things like steel bumpers, heavy winches, over loaded roof racks etc. if not, then there is nothing better than stock springs.

shocks on the other hand are a different story, i read what bk said earlier that they are longer than stock, that is true, but not always (depends on individual shocks), longer shocks have the advantage of increased wheel articulation but the downfall (if used with short springs) that if compressed they can bottom out (meaning the wheel is pushing on the shock even though it has no more room to compress) and this can destroy a shock!! but again it depends on how much longer the shock is than stock.
another advantage of the after market shock is the gas charging, it will enable u to use them under load without failure. for example rallying etc (high speeds off road), under such use its only a matter of time when stock will give up, where as good aftermarket ones will last longer...

my advice would be to keep the stock springs (get kabli ones if u feel they're sagging a bit) as u dont want the lift and i dont think carry extra loads. and get a set of bilstein 5100 shocks (they're the best bang for buck and have a really good ride) as im sure u could use them to benefit in high speed off roading.

tires on the other hand stick to the stock size, if anything just get a larger profile like 75 or 80, but keep width to a minimum. a skinny tire is 99% of the time a better tire

hope i was of any help

anytime bro be sure to ask if u have any further concerns or questions abt the suspension.

and congrats on the purchase, a wide tire does have its advantages too!!! so no worries
