    Default 1N diesel engine

For my little 1978 suzuki LJ 50, I may go for a change. But for that i need the opinion of others so that i do not go wrong.
About the last set up, just to remind that the LJ is performing very fine in offroading but needs some skills for that. Also the petrol 660 cc feels like it lacks power, and also i am not a petrol lover at all. Initially as stock, this veh had the 540cc 2 stroke engine.

I am planning to go for a diesel change of 1N, i think it's 1600 cc. Someone also suggested the diesel of charade ie 1000cc. Remember the weight of my suzuki is hardly 570 kg's much lesser than even a small suzuki which weighs around a 1000kg's.

    Need your opinion.
Also if some one can tell me the market rates of both these engines. Kabli and civil.

    Regards

dont u think a good 1N would be hard to find
as far as i remember the head of 1N can be problematic
also charade diesel in junk would be civil and scrap probably
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

    I agree with @hash4u

A good 1N will not just be difficult to find, it will be heavy for the car you plan to put it in....I remember driving and seeing 1N Turbo closely long time back when a colleague of mine had it swapped in his 86 Corolla..it was a good engine to drive and was solid as all Toyota Diesels...

Regarding the Daihatsu 1000cc Diesel it seems to be a right choice for you in terms of weight, but not in terms of application..I am sure it will struggle on highway and mechanical issues will be always around.

I am a diesel lover, and currently using my eighth diesel in my FJ...and I agree that diesels are lot cheaper to run(if you find a solid one) but in your vehicle why don't you find a good 660 intercooled turbo out of a Jimny..

OK done. Thanks everyone for the advices. You people are right. Thanks once again. I also feel that it was just sort of a punga and not a requirement in real.

moreover, 1N is for FWD vehicles. you will have to make big alteration in order to fit it with ur RWD/4WD gear box.

Yes very true. But i have an advantage. In suzuki sj 410, jimny, and lj 50/ 80's the speed gear and 4X4 gears are different. They have a small shaft joining them. So any non 4X4 speed gear can be matched with it.
Any how i had already decided not to go for a 1 N.

Rather i have decided to keep it petrol. Again few suggestions.

    1. Can i fix a stock turbo on the existing 660 cc without having the efi system on? And what if i go for an efi one which i have always disliked because of my limited knowledge about efi engines?
    2. Will a 660cc twin cam be more powerful than a 1000cc potohar carborated engine?

As far as I know potohar SJ410 engine is F10A and produces 45hp, while EFI 660CC of Jimny K6A turbo produces 64hp, but i have no knowledge of stock turbos.
