Default Diesel Pajero cold starting issue

    Hi all
Recently, I purchased 1992 model Pajero diesel 2.5TD. Im facing the problem of cold start. In the morning, it refuses to start even after 10 heaters. After 12 o clock noon, it starts after 2nd or 3rd try. And after starting once, then without any heater, it is half self start. Also gives smoke at start.
It is driven more than 300k kms. I want to know from experts whether it is due to glow plugs, timing, valve seals, or nozzles of pump.
I know the problem will be resolved after this cold weather but want to dig out the reason. Also suggest any other solution if needed.
Shall be grateful for this help.
    Regards

After oil change and today's drive, I am much satisfied with the smooth engine sound. Moreover, feeling the ride to be somewhat lighter than before. Hope to get improvement in fuel efficiency too. Also it is half self start in the morning and I can crank it even by standing outside. So, for those who r using other oils, I shall recommend to use Delo Gold Ultra for their Pajeros.

3000 kms? - thats quite a pricey deal for me. Oil change rule.

1 - use good oil filter and wet the media first
2 - use good oil (delo gold = good)
3 - make sure the oil gets nice and hot (to clean itself)
4 - keep engine in good tune.

Enjoy the ride and 5~6000 kms oil change. - my oldschool VW Golf diesel experienced that, never missed a beat, always started up, carried me where I wanted it to go - loaded, unloaded, rain or shine. The oil drained was usually black as sin but still good to go (the filter was a 1 litre capacity MANN 940)

the MANN 940 is also used in the old 2L engines and Massey tractors too - its a behemoth sized filter for that car with a piddly 1.6 litre diesel.

Well, I hope to keep oil change interval every 2000~2500 km in future Insha Allah.

I think Pakistani diesel has low quality. Moreover, even if I buy the Oil from a good/reputed place, Still there may be chance of 2 numbery. So, its better to change oil sooner.

The below link is my car run on "100% jenyan amreeki deezal" - see for yourself.

    click

For oils, call Caltex and ask for a distributor near you - buy as required. 99% of times, the diesel engines in Pakistan are mistimed, ham hand tuned, slapped together bag of bolts etc.

The first sentence of choice of mechanics who dont know how to correct their faults is "aail 2 number" or "deezal 2 number hai"

the customer believes that because he/she does not know better.

now back our regular programs here on PW.

the problem is that mechanics try to unload their incompetance on "2 number aail aur deezal" - The only way to deduce that would be to first have a "control level" - which is the manufacturer specification. 99% of the times they are laughed on and "andaaza of fallana ustaad aka shaksiyat parasti prevails"

Xulfiqar Bhai.Is engine vibration due to faulty injection pump? When hot, the engine vibrates. Cold engine has no issue. The sound of engine is not continuous, but looks as if it is not breathing properly.Sorry, unable to upload video.

check all tune items correctly and note each work on a book.

meaning - get it to factory specs. check and adjust valve clearance, check and adjust pump timing and nozzle break pressure, the leak on the pump is a cause of vibration too as the pump has frothy fuel in it.

so you prefer to drive around a bad working engine? misfire in a diesel can cause you mechanical repairs, specially on a 4 cyl engine as it will run unbalanced.

    http://dpsl.com.pk/index.php

contact these folks and ask if they will repair the injection pump, they are the best in the business. I have used their services a lot. The pump and injectors are calibrated and certified. The facilities are supremely clean and dust free and their equipment is very good.

    Never had a problem.

For information sake: Your engine uses a Bosch VE type fuel injection pump clone. (if they ask).
