no, there's this new category D for stock vehicles. easier track and novice drivers. i think i should start my career this year. i will build a nice SJ413 for next year for the express purpose of going to jeep rallies.

wow. sounds too good. i was imagining it all happen to my suv as a i read your post. i know what i want now. how much are we talking about in terms of cash? i think 0.3 million rupees will be more than enough for all the modifications you suggested.

How about we go for sports suspension and not a lift kit, as it is harmful? Is it worth it! My suv is already kinda higher than conventional suvs

naw - in rally you need twin suspension units per wheel and gigantic brakes. Best factory vehicle for rally is a Land Rover Defender or Mercedes G Wagen, They are no nonsense raw machines and will obey command without question.

Toyota SUV - they are like little princesses unless you modify them heavily.

hi Jahanzeb. i have a 1992 LJ70 and this prado 1996. my lj70 has a 2L (2400cc) turbo engine with automatic gear. and i assure you that i am getting MUCH better mileage on my 1996 prado. Around 9 km/l on city streets, and not sure about highway as i just purchased it, and did not take it to highway as yet. BUT 1kz is a fuel hungry engine, and if you floor the accelerator, then don't expect it to be merciful on the fuel tank. floor it on city streets and you'll see the fuel gauge going down. drive it like a gentleman and you're good. i won't call you an enthusiast if you're an auto person. i miss my manual gearbox so bad. driving a manual suv=liberty.
coming to price, a 1996 in good condition will set you back by 1.7 million. A mediocre one might cost you around 1.5 to 1.6 million. since your HJ60 is very old (older than me, i am 22) i doubt that it's pick is good, and if it's good off-road. I am sure you'll love the 1KZ, although it's displacement is only 3000 cc diesel. But it's one hell of an engine. make sure you buy a prado with 1KZ under the hood. That's all i have for you. Good Luck.
    PS:
my cousin here in Karachi is selling his Prado 2002 (3 door) with 1KD. 1kd is almost same as 1kz, it is 3000 cc, only difference, it's smokeless (green) and a little bit more electronics parts than the 1kz.

bro, the second hand defenders people sell here are 2.5l, and they are seriously under powered. and a new one costs 4.2 million (90 base), but the choice of engine is still limited to 2.5l. and don't even talk about the G wagon. we're talking at least 10.20 million for a used one. i am just 22, and i can't afford a G. BUT I LOVE IT!
