Default IJC Rally Team Concordia - Cholistan 2014 Prologue Montage : "Looking Back "

As we approach the 2014 Cholistan Rally, we decided to take a brief look back at Project Concordia as a Prologue to our participation at the mega motorsports event of Pakistan. Wish us well and see you at the Cholistan Desert : February 14-16, 2014!

"A prologue (Greek πρόλογος prologos, from the word pro (before) and l?gos, word) is an opening to a story that establishes the setting and gives background details, often some earlier story that ties into the main one, and other miscellaneous information. The Greek prologos included the modern meaning of prologue, but was of wider significance, more like the meaning of preface. The importance, therefore, of the prologue in Greek drama was very great; it sometimes almost took the place of a romance, to which, or to an episode in which, the play itself succeeded."

I wish a very good luck to all the IJC members for Cholistan Rally. @samvaid, @SuhaibKiani and @nn. Dont know who else will be participating! Would definitely love to see one of you at the podium this time. It would be great if you guys share the detail specs of the rides including the special upgrades done to your respective vehicles to take the beat of the desert for this specific rally. Also, would like to know that how the preparations are going in terms of individual team i.e. driver, navigator other support staff. Looking forward to see all of you in action

Challo kutch hosla howa! Many thanks everyone!

@yaserag: Abhee tak samajh nahin lagee ke inn kamon mein income nahin hotee, sirf cost hotee hai! Share karnee ho to bolein

@ADILFJ40: Many thanks! There will inshallah be six vehicles from IJC including Shabab Haider (Tundra 5.7), Zohaib Jadoon (Safari 4.5l petrol) and Asad Marwat (Pajero 3.0). There is a bit of ongoing uncertainty regarding rules for stock category but until the last update just about all six vehicles will run in Category A which the IJC Rally Teams seems to loves so much Will share pics of some upgrades to my vehicle but its largely similar to what we ran last year at Cholistan. This year it seems to be a hard fight for us to even get to the 7th place finish which we have gotten quite used to by now. But the most important competitor for us is ourselves and we hope to have another clean run and improve on last year's time inshallah!

Many Thanks! Yes indeed, will be participating on the same ride, albeit it seems that this would be the last time that I would be doing so. Inshallah, God willing will need to cook something else up for next year. The Concordia FJ40 has been a great learning experience all across the board and we perhaps need to start afresh to implement some of the learnings. Nevertheless, after about 4 main rallies I still feel that I am still learning to drive and still not able to do justice even to the car's current capabilities....

OK gents, news is in that the Cholistan track for this year is expected to be 90% the same as last year. So here I would take the op to do a quick "look back" review of the 2013 track. Starting from a quick night time high speed recce of the track from CP2 to CP3. Concordia driven by veteran rally driver Ghulam Hussain with yours truly in navigator seat. Its a tricky technical track, as was 70% of overall track last year though reportedly the track has become somewhat higher speed after more frequent traffic since last year. Given the track and light conditions, most of the driving here is essentially at high speed recce pace (60-80kms) with some stretches approaching race speeds (80-100kmph).

Here is a day time recce video from @yaserag Surf somewhere around the CP3 - The Khabar is back!!!

This is a very rough track portion by all means and lasts for about 25 kms from CP 3 to just short of CP 5 from what I recall. Our speeds here are just about touching race pace here in most places....

Have been asked a number of times now by various people about Cholistan track, not being sure how well I am able to explain it, I dug out this recce video and cut it at 5X normal speed to give everyone, particularly participating drivers who have not done this track before or recently, an idea of how it goes. Not the best video (can't seem to play it without lags on vimeo right now), but it does represent the track well, would recommend downloading and slower playback for "serious" viewers. Music and track become increasingly "Russian" as we move towards the CP3 khabar

@SK, are there any soft sand dunes in this rally or its mostly plain with some portions of soft sand? I was watching the Dakar Rally and some of the top notch drivers got stuck in dunes, which according to them "even the hell couldn't be this tough".
