    Default Trailer-Pay Load and Braking

I was going through the threads, and could not find an answer to it.

What kinda load can you pull without Trailer having brakes. If you do want to put brakes on trailer for towing behind an SUV, how can you do it.

What kind of hardware you require.....

Check towing capacity of your vehicle and just tow, brake on trailer is very complex and you do not need it

From the pics above u don't need brakes ... It's not heavy enough. Brakes are connected to the hitch.

In fact the question that I want to raise here is that what is the limit of towing weight after which you require a self braking trailer.

In Pakistan we do not have a tradition of using trailers; reasons? I have no idea...specially with CNG Cylinders taking a bulk of space in the boot trailers can be a option...like the ones below...
TrailerPay Load and Braking -1356249TrailerPay Load and Braking -1356250TrailerPay Load and Braking -1356251TrailerPay Load and Braking -1356252TrailerPay Load and Braking -1356253

In fact I plan to travel to the Northern areas with my family(wife and 4 kids aged 13, 11, 7, 3) in a SWB FJ40..so I presume that I will not be left with much space in the cabin for luggage....for that purpose I need a trailer....but there are a few other things I want to achieve:

    1. It has to light when empty.
    2. It has to be good looking.

I hope I explain my self well...

Ok..first the lighter the trailer the more it's going to bounce about when empty ..fj40. Tow hitch is high so standard small will work if you lower the hitch..you can build the trailer to suit your needs..it's not difficult ..u might have to import the hitch and the coupling light connector ..if u can't find it locally..and u don't need brakes on small trailer ..or roof box..build something that attaches to the hitch..

How about using cargo bed along with differential, suspension from Suzuki pick up. It could be a bit low as compared to FJ40 but can be adjusted. Main point is it will be light, spacious and ready made with all accessories. The original military trailers are very heavy and not very spacious.

Well that is a good Idea.....but you need rails under the bed...I think that the chassis has to be light, the chassis Suzuki pickup has happens to be flimsy....

You cannot go wrong with a standard M416 trailer for a J40 landcruiser. Make a lid for it and box it as well.. will match your ride
