Default Flashing 4x4 lights in Surf 2004

I have Toyota Surf 2004. The 4x4 lights in the console, all of them, sometimes start flashing as I start the vehicle and remain flashing throughout. However, after sometime if I shut down the engine and restart it, the problem is no more there. I wonder what is the problem.

check the transfer case oil for shavings in it, the wiring that goes to it is above the case and requires removal of the whole gearbox which is a very heavy ordeal.

The centre diff is engaged by a little motor and two sensors that report back that the diff is engaged.
