    Default Prado Cracked Dashboard

Since this is SUV related, thought I would post my query here. We have a '04 Toyota Prado GX with the beige interior. Even though the jeeps been taken well care of, somehow all these cracks have just started appearing on the dash and it looks nasty. Never used any cheap chemicals on it. always cleaned with a damp cloth.

The whole dash is full of it. Hairline cracks.

So what are my options? Should I apply a layer of beige rexin/vinyl on it? Or do I need to buy the whole dash? Everything else is fine, just the cracks on the upper portion of the dash. Is there any other way to fill in these cracks?

Can i find just the upper portion of the 120 series Prado in shoba and how much will it cost me? If any1 has a spare dash from a Prado, please let me know.

im attaching a refrence pic of how it looks like though the cracks are thinner than the one showed in the pic.

It's a factory fault for the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado/Lexus GS series and the Toyota Hilux Surf/4Runner. It's an issue with the material used in the dashboard pad. It tends to crack under heat exposure.

You will have to re-wrap the dashboard or get a replacement dashboard pad.

A new OEM dashboard pad will cost you near 50K+. Re-wrapping your current dashboard will cost less.

I had an '03 TZ Prado. Exact same problem, happened due to heat. I managed to arrange a new dashboard from Peshawar for 35k.

    Salams,

This is a very common issue with Hilux Surf 2003 onwards and Prado. There's a popular guy (Mr Ameer Zada 0300-5005222) in Islamabad I & T Center (Fire Brigade) who can redo your whole dashboard with just like original covering; people dont even recognize if its original. Do visit him sometime and see a sample of any dashboard recently done.

just be careful of the airbag underneath before going for rewrapping or changing dashboards
If everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane!

Finally managed to solve the problem. Wrote a complete write up on the solution.

NOTE: Our prado dosnt have a passenger airbag so no worries there.
