Default Introducing my Hilux Tiger 2003

    My dear 4x4 brothers,

As some of you may know I sold my 1992 TLC 80 Series a few months back. Was a great rig and I enjoyed it to the max with not just IJC offroading, but also as a daily drive. However, feeding the 1FZ-FE on a daily basis VS the practicality card and after a lot of family pressure, I had to sell it.

I now own a 2003 Hilux Tiger (Thai model) and I must confess, I am thoroughly enjoying it. The practical aspect is one thing, the fuel economy as opposed to the thirsty 1FZ-FE...lets just say my eyes are no longer constantly fixated on the fuel gauge We ALL know how that feels! Now the Hilux is no Land Cruiser in terms of comfort, this is something I felt instantly when I sat in it on Day 1. The TLC seats and suspension are way easier on the lower back as compared to this wild horse. But there is something about the Tiger that takes me back to the feeling I had when I owned the TLC 60 Series...A rough n tough wild work horse! Practical as hell and good on fuel, maintenance and overall just easy to keep for a long time. Plus, my 3 dogs love the open air of the daalla

Other than that, this Hilux Tiger although originally a D4D with 1KD engine, was swapped with a 1KZ-Turbo by the previous owner for the reason of our super sulphur ridden diesel that kills the 1KD over time (unless you change the nozzles every 50,000 kms or so, for over Rs.80,000!)

So let the pix roll and I will explain details and upgrades planned along the way....enjoy!

    Default Day 1

Here it is, as it was on Day 1 of purchase. Looked alright for starters, but I could already see what it was eventually going to look like once I was done with it. With the help of Nadir @nuic and Huzaifa @Demonoid, we started to bring the real Tiger out of this Hilux.

Eventually all the pieces started to come together and the Tiger began to come close to how I wanted it. Removed the old vertical lined front grill and replaced it with the horizontal one, and ofcourse the Autobots logo had to go on at last! (I had saved it for 2 years waiting for the right rig to put it on).

Soon enough, with the roof rack removed, new grill, etc....the Tiger was looking like something I would enjoy! The tyres and rims were also replaced....

An essential for any offroader, some juicy shoes! When I bought the Tiger, it had 235s on it, that too HTs, definitely not what we want on this! So new Silverstone MTs with a size of 31/10.5/15 were purchased and the rims were painted black.

Once the new shoes were on, this Tiger was one step closer to the end goal. It was already starting to look yummy.

After this it was all a matter of cleaning the interior and making it ready for some offroading testing grounds....

    Default The interior

Now, when it comes to the interior, you know or rather dont know how many people, how many hands have touched that steering wheel; call me OCD but damn, I armed myself with a toothbrush, cloth and an arsenal of cleaning sprays and went batty on cleaning the interior! Let the pics do the talking of the elbow work on this
