Default Land Cruiser 60 V8 help required

    Salam everybody
I am thinking of putting a 1uz v8 in my 60 series. I have some questions and need some expert opinions please:

    1. Should I get the VVTI or non VVTI version
    2. What should I do about transmission? I do prefer manual. Mine have a 5 forward (H55 I guess), so how am I going to couple it with the engine? Or is there any better option for the transmission. A friend of mine was saying that if you use bell housing of 2uz then you can get a bolt on h155 or h151 transmission. Anyways I have no idea what he was talking about, but just thought of mentioning that is there any possibility if that??
    3. ECU, wiring, fuel pump???what to do

For a 60 series I would recommend the older 1UZ non vvti version. Its cheap and all parts are now available even in retail form. Meaning Air Flow meters, ECUs, coils and even complete wiring sets can be bought separately and are cheap. Wiring and electronics of the engine are by now well understood and probably the local computer wala in your mohalla can fix it up. You will need an adapter plate for the manual clutch so an experienced mechanic / lathe guy is an absolute must. A customized Hilux clutch system (incorporating various components and some machining) will work well as long as the adapter plate is aligned correctly.

Suhaib Bhai is it just the cost or are there any other factors to go for a non vvti
I didn't get the hilux clutch system point. Can you please explain. Also should I go for any other transmission (better suited for 1uz but not compromising power) or my transmisison is fine?

Availability of parts is most important in my view. VVti electronics are slightly more elaborate and still not so well understood generally. Also, the 1UZ vvti adds not all that much in terms of power and torque unless you need the extra 30 BHP for a specific purpose like racing or something. Lastly, the older 1UZ sounds a quite a bit more brutish in stock form and kinda suits the 60 series more. Nevertheless, the vvti version is also pretty much the same thing otherwise and if you want to go for that, its always very possible.

Clutch work may need flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plates from different Toyota models depending on the gearbox. Some redrilling of holes is also needed, but I am not fully on top of what goes where, all I know is that if its done right, the desi jugars holds up well against 260 ft lbs.
