    Default Jeep Newbie in need of information

    AoA

    I am in need of some information with regards to restoring an old jeep. My father bought this old jeep from what he says was used by rangers(which i doubt) a few years ago, we were going to restore it but due to our financial situations we couldn't and the jeep has been standing at the parking lot of the mechanic. Now we have a bit of money and were thinking of restoring the jeep but neither me nor my father have any experience with jeeps so i thought i could get some advice from you guys.

    Firstly the reason my father bought the jeep was to travel to our farm house which is located in padrar(45 minutes from kallar kahar motorway interchange), any normal car would suffice but the roads leading to our property are badly damaged and you could consider them to be seriously off road, this has been damaging the underside of our other cars and thus my father bought a jeep.

    (sorry for the long backstory)

    Now i was wondering what kind of specifications should we have as the jeep would mostly spend its time on the Islamabad to Kallar Kahar Motorway and then 45 minutes on the normal Kallar kahar road and then some 15 minutes of off road.

    The mechanic suggested an engine by the name of 2LT toyota diesel engine which i have no knowledge of, i would be most grateful if you guys could help me out with what kind of specs should i have like suspension, engine type, tyre size, a/c, hardtop or softtop etc.

    Eagerly awaiting for your response

    I think such a old jeep shouldnt be a daily runner on long routes as pakistani products+mechanics+fuel arnt the best out there.. Id advice u to go for a newer model of a small jeep something like a jimny.. Its a good offroader the 1.3 and not very expensive to maintain. And people cant help u till u tell the exact model make and year of the jeep.

    I don't think 2LT would be suitable. What would be diff ratio's? oh you're newbie you might not know about it.

    Where are you located ? Make sure the mechanic you are dealing with works with 4x4.. because car mechanics can work on jeeps but dont really know much stuff.

    Best engine will be 3c-t with Rocky gear. Hell even a simple 2c engine with rocky gear would do.

    Secondly if you are not a jeep person but a sj410 1300 petrol its great ride as good as this one but a big cheaper on parts and you will have option of hard top

    @ahmedraja 1996
    bro i have no idea about the differential ratios lol
    @qwertypoiu
    Im located in Rawalpindi....the mechanic does work with 4x4s...and i myself after going through a lot of threads on this site became interested in 3c-t but i cant afford to have a vehicle that empties my every pocket(as stated by jeep_junkie) ...most people kept advising me against getting the jeep fixed for my daily commute so i thought i should put the question to the pros and get some information as to whats the best choice.

    Im not a jeep person but really wanted to be one, but after reading all those threads i don't think its an easy job being a jeep person

    by the way thank you guys for your responses.

    Yes its an ex rangers jeep, they were revamped with Chinese engines and gearboxes, are those still in the jeep? What is the condition of those? You should put it into running condition with minimal expenditure. Answer my questions and I will help you in this project.
    To all the extreme drivers, please come offroad like ME to keep others safe on the roads.
