Default Starting off my Jeep Project

    Hi all jeepers,

i am finally going ahead with my jeep project.

the vehicle will be a army auctioned M38A1 converted to CJ5 shape just like this

Starting off my Jeep Project -495549

The restoration will take place at city saddar road jeep bazaar... the mechanic is zafar ustaad...here is what basic specs i hav decided

    engine: 3C-T
    Gears: Daihatsu rocky
    differentials/steering assembly: rocky
    kamani: Jeep
    half hard doors

as this is my first such project... i need guidance from experts like ehsan kiani, jeepaholic, khakiMB, voyager bhai who have actually been into such work at city saddar.

The first thing i want to ensure is that i get the right frame with auction voucher... i dont trust the mechanic on this... coz i have heard that vouchers are messed up and sometimes creates problems in registeration.

whats the location of frame/chasis number on the frame?
    whats the original Voucher like?
what things i should be careful of?

i need this info a bit quick... coz im going ahead with the first payment next week... so guide me... i dont want to go wrong in this work

    Hi All,

I installed an intercooler with my jeep... for the past 2 days was stuck with the plumbing... finally made the pipes using PVC pipes and bends... here is a pic...

PVC pipe coated with black tape... as indicated by red line

Starting off my Jeep Project -731697

now the issue... will this PVC pipe be able to bear the heat of the engine... im going to test this configuration for reliability... if it works then fine or else i'll go for metal pipe made form a cylincer wala

the reason i avoided metal pipe was that metal would itself absorb heat and heatup the air inside losing intercooler efficiency...

any suggestions in this area experts

    oh forgot to mention...

the engine had its first start.. not very pleasant..lolz... running erratic.. tractor like sound... leaking diesel.. air in fuel... smoking at idle...etc etc... as it was dark was difficult to see where it leaking from... probably nozzles

this will get fixed today... and i'll see how smooth it gets

    Hi All

I am sooo sorryy i could not update at all... was stuck with other issues.... i couldn't even give time to my Jeep... hav taken only few pics in the whole month... some testing etc.

Here are some pics for you guys...

as far as advice for ppl who wana build one... you hav to hav shouq for this machine first of all... without shouq you wont appreciate the time and money spent... i spent abt 500K on this project.. bringing things to perfections requires a lot of time, effort and money.

right now im facing the problem of death wobble at a speeds of 50-60Km on bumps... will replace tie rod ends and shimmy damper this weekend to see what difference it makes... the ends hav a little play and they do knock.

Building a Jeep is a great learning experience... but only if you hav the shouq

Yara this thing is gorgeous! Seriously thinking about starting a project myself. With gurus like Jeepaholic and now Akif yourself to guide the way, its got to be fun through to the end. Superb work Akif!
There is one thing I would break up over and that is if she caught me with another woman. I wouldn't stand for that!
