    CAN ANY BODY GIVE ME ADVICE ABOUT THE COSTER B1 ENGINE.I WANT TO PLAN A CJ-8 87 MODEL FULLY COVERTED IN WRANGLER ,POWER STEERING .POWER WINDOWS,WRANGLER DASH BOARD,WRANGLER SEATS,DISC BREAKS,AC AND CJ8 ORINGINAL DIFF THEY ASKING ME 600000 AND I THINK CONFIRM IT IN 550 WHAT YOU PEOPLE THNK ABOUT.PLEASE ADVICE

    AOA,

    The B is a 2.9 L (2977 cc) Inline 4 8 Valve OHV diesel engine. Bore is 95 mm and stroke is 105 mm, with a compression ratio of 21:1. Output is 80 hp (59.6 kW) at 3600 RPM with 141 ft·lbf (190.9 Nm) of torque at 2200 RPM.

    The 1KZ-T is an early version of 1KZ-TE, 2982 cc, 4 cylinders, SOHC, 3 valve per cylinder turbo diesel engine. Bore is 96 mm and stroke is 103 mm, with a compression ratio of 21.2:1. Maximum output is 125 hp (93 kW) @ 3600 rpm and maximum torque is 29.3 kgf·m (287 N·m) @ 2000 rpm.

    Besides the later has got a better weight to power ratio and is priced at 65k to 70k, which is infact just a bit more than what you will have to pay for a good B1 engine or in some cases more!

    My suggestion to you is "Get a 1KZ-T" engine and transmission.

    DO you have the snaps of the vehicle in question? if yes please do post them because 5.5 lac for the whole deal sounds a bit on the higher side.
    Secondly take a look at the snaps and specs of the CJ7 on sale here on Pak-wheels (mine included )as compare with your would be jeep and then decide if it is a good deal or not.

    Ans I don't think that 1KZ-T is better! I just happen to know this simple fact. Ask any Jeep enthusiast. What would they like to have under their Jeeps Bonnet a 1KZ-T or a B1.

    Coaster came with different variants engine wise, e.g 3.4D, 4.2D etc etc. So do check what you are getting.

    B,B1,B2,B3,B13,B13 turbo,14B,15B,15B turbo are all coaster engines and they came in land Cruisers aswell....m posting 2 charts they will help u to understand.... save them on ur pc and zoom them...

    6,00,000 is way too much....for 4,50,000 u can get a land cruiser RKR shape soft top....it should not b more than 3,00,000....pls post some detail pics so that the actual price could b evaluated. i mean interior, exterior, engine bay pics...

    Dear Hamza

    I wanted to install the 1KZ in my MB. But i was told that the MB would need to be seriously modified thus i went for the 3-CT. I must say you have excellent information on the engines.

    gentlemen - the B1 is bullet proof engine but its a bit slow The 1KZ on the other hand has good speed and power but needs fancy electrics (and cooling) to keep it running smoothly. So you decide which you need.

    So, if you are completely off-roading the B1 is a good bet but if you plan to do a combination of off-road as well well as on-road then perhaps the 1KZ is a better bet.

    BTW the B2 is the updated version of B1. the B3 is even more modern but suffers from cooling problems. Most mechanics prefer B2 the most. You could get lucky and find a B2 Turbo (very rare).

    Another good choice for CJ7 application is the 2L Turbo with an upgraded (i.e. bigger) fuel pump. The Surfs/Prados/Hilux used to have this before the 1KZ.
