    It is one of the line up offered by Hyundai including Santa Fe and Tuscan. Luxury 4x4s with everything and very expensive. But cheaper than luxuries like Lexus and BMW SUVs. Can be graded equal to Landcruiser / Parado / Pajeero etc.

    @ malikg115
    I have very solid reasons to compare this and Santa fe with Parado. I am not talking about Sportage. If you have doubts visit the related web sites and compare specs. Secondly have you driven a Santa Fe? I have in addition to Land cruiser and both on a assault track designed for sporting 4x4s.Simply saying hahahahaha does not prove your point. I am open to debate but if you, like few others, will resort to abusive language I will quit.

    Sure they can be compared but the King of the jungle may not outrun the cheetah, but he's STILL king of the jungle.
    Thats may not be the best of analogies, but sure as hell beats the hell out of a repeat performance..lol

    @Fli_Gti
    Keeping in mind the biased support Toyota enjoy on this forum I very cautiously said " It can be compared to". I don't have the stomach to declare anything better than Toyota when you are here. Just kidding, no offence.

    I am a bit confused now. Sportage, and Sumurai, are not as heavyduty 4x4s as Santa Fe, land cruiser etc. We simply can't compare these two different classes. Sportage is too light and is never regarded as a robust 4x4 for off roading. However Cherokee is one (which I know) of the light 4x4 that can do some exciting off-roading .

    Please be frank and don't tell me that you are not a TOYOTA-ITE. Anyhow I am myself a big fan of Toyota. Other than cars it is the best corporate entity of the world. I have experienced a few brief stints in thier motor plants in China and I am really amazed the way they manage thier operations, logisitc and human resource development. I would say a text book example of management style. It is the only company in the world that has revenues in Trillion of Dollars. So be proud to be TOYOTA-ITE.

    Yes, developed by Americans and practised by Japanese. Those of us studying business management must be more aware of it as we blue collared engineers are a bit ignorant on this issue. BTW most of our automakers follow ISO series of quality management. It is also good as it is easy to implement as compared to Japense style of Quality management. Koreans are also coming up and as per a latest survey Korean cars have fewest of defects reported by new owners in USA. Hyundai is the fastest growing company in China with a growth rate of 15% per anum.

    No doubt Toyota is unbeatable in terms of quality and workmanship, I go on a regular visit to couple of toyta plants in north America (Canada and Kentuky USA)no doubt there manufacturing style is awesome, claen environment, 5S, Kaizan. You would probably be surprise to know toyota is the only major global automaker who is not subscribert o TS16949, new global automotive quality standard which is new ver of QS 9000 which was actaully invented by GM Ford and Chrysler. toyota have their own production system which is called Toyota Production syetem (TPS)and they may not subscribe to this new global std either, b/c based on their own TPS they are now world no.2 and may be with in next 2-3 yrs would achieve No.1 position, I feel good to work for a toyta owned company infact 20 - 30 % of parts used in toyota / Lexus /Daihatsu Scion and hino are made by our company.
    now come to point Santa Fe is a nice SUV the model they introduced in North America is a V6 dual transmission ctrl u can either drive it as manual or auto, but again some one said lion is king, tiger can't be a king of jungle even though run faster then lion. Korean cars are getting better but still they have a long way to go.

    But I hate toyota for what they are doing in Pakistan. I have not seen the latest cars being marketed in Pakistan by Toyota but a few years ago it was hopeless. Workman ship was poor, so was the quality assurance in addition to poor quality of items supplied by vendors. A Japan assembled Toyota of 1983 was better than a 93 Pakistani Corrola. The weak areas are paint job, wiring, cleating, seats, interior plastic, roof molding, door inner panels and steering wheel. As engine, and other mechanical components come imported so they are OK.

    as far I know toyata in pakistan has pakistani management toyota japan is just technical support may be i am wrong, any way quality comes with management commitment and it comesw ith cost also it depends upon market competiton, pakistan is not a compettive market , i mean there are not many makes to choose from. so this is probbaly the reason toyota is using older technology to manufacture cars and also not introducing too many models. this is my humble opinion only.

    Tucson is for city only it is not for Off Road. A pure cosmetic jeep which belongs to the breed of poser jeeps such as BMW X Series, Sportage(Poor man's Grand Cruiser on leasing) , Honda Pilot, Rexton, Rav 4 and Xtrail Etc. (No Offence).
    For urban driving its quite good and luxurious. Gotta gudd engine. But Koreans still need to do a lotta work on their SUV's.
    As far as LC is considered its quite good specially Cruising its just too gudd. Dont like the new model of LC (Grand Cruiser). I dont rate LC as the King of Jungle, I will rate Willys and defender as the King of Jungle.

    Hmmm..king of the Jungle is most probably not Willy's or Defender but the LC sold between 1986 & 1992. It had 3 locking differentials compared to 1 or max 2 other 4x4s have. The Terracan is a nice looking SUV for cruising on the streets & showing-off to the neighbours/ relatives(thats probably the only reason people buy 4x4s for).
