    Default 4x4 under a budget of 800,000/-

Can anyone please guide me on what options are available in Karachi for a 4x4 within a budget of 800,000/- I shall be using the 4x4 for daily commute, family use, weekend use, and occassional travelling / road trips (either on or offroad hopefully with the 4x4 Offroaders Club). The running cost of the vehicle should be low (diesel). It should have decent drive features. I had a Land Rover Defence 110 in mind, but the box is a bit uncomfortable to drive specially the right elbow clearance on it is very bad. Any advise is highly appreciative. If someone already has a vehicle available with the above features then please contact me at 0300 849 2791. * I am also open to options of developing a 4x4 as a project, as long as the total budget remains the same i.e. 800,000/- , it can be achieved in 4 months time, and the donor vehicle is running and drivable.

    Sportage is a good option.
Age is a very high price to pay for maturity.

Thanks guys for such a quick response.

What do you say about a 1996 Land Rover Discovery 300 TDI. Is that a good option?

If one has to start a 4x4 project with an overall budget of 800,000 then what options should I consider. Provided the practicality and functionality for daily use is also available.

    AOA,

    Dear aisheikh bhai,

    Following are my recommendations.
Considering your Budget , Fuel Economy, Resale, Offroading and family utility.
8-9lacs Toyota Hilux 1990-92 SSR NOT SSRX!
8-8.5lacs Toyota Land CrusierII, 2.4L 1988-1989 Reconditioned!(my friend sold one last year for 8lacs and it was reqistered in 2006!)
7-7.5lacs Suzuki Jimmy 1.3L Petrol with A/T Model 1998-199 reconditioned.
5-6lacs Toyota Surf 2.2L Diesel Two Door
    4-5lacs BJ-40 Hardtop, 3.2L Diesel 1984 Model
    4-5lacs Sujuki Vitara 1989-90Model 1.6L, 3 Door with CNG

There are many financial institutions that finance old vehicles. My friend has leased a 1996 Surf Recon.2006.

Some of these vehicles are hard to find but not impossible.
I hope other 4x4 members can comment on my humble research.

    Wasalaam,

    MHAMZA

SPORTAGE: NO WAY. You are better of burning your money than buying a SPORTAGE.

    Look for 95 Safari
    Or any Toyota.

    Dont even think Sportage.

    whats good about sportage? Nothing.
Do you see any serious or even semi serious off roader in a sportage? Vitara and even Jimny's are far far far better than Sportage. I think 95 3 Door Safari or Petrol should not cost more than 8 to 10 lakhs..

Stay with the Japs, they offer the best value for money. Unless of course you can find something as basic as a Defender in a good condition.

Sportage is not bad for city usage with family. Nissan patrol or safari is the best i can think for serious 4x4
Keep a cool head and wear seatbelts!
