i also had a 2004 grand sportage, i used to use delo gold as it's a very good universal diesel oil. as for washing, i use simple car wash shampoo which is available at all pumps. it gets rig od the grime from the body, but it is essential to polish the car after you ise the shampoo as it makes the body feel "dry" without polish.

BTW if you wand you car to be quieter while driving i'd suggest you get the fan coupling changed to a "cluth fan", this way the car is not always screaming like it does. i can't recall which exact clutch fan fit into my car but my mechanic at fire brigade sourced it for me. i think it was a toyota or mitsubishi part.

    What colour is your sportage?

where the fan joins the engine there is a metal block, you can replace that with a clutch linkage which will leave the fan free to rotate on its own till when it is needed. this frees up power and you'll also get rid of that annoying fan noise when you rev.

You must use the oil suggested by the manufacturer. See the car manual and it should have listed.

Getting a car shine isnt an easy job. It takes time, money and a lot of patience. Just cleaning is not as shinning it up.

I would say start with a shampoo and see how the results are.

to get the car to shine more i'd suggest to get it detailed by a professional once a month and every week you should polish it yourself. Honestly i think any good car polish which contains carnauba wax will be fine, don't waste your time with expensive stuff, even formula one (the genuine one) is good enough.

if you have that silly 4wd sticker on the front doors please remove it, it ruins the lines of the car. I did that and removed all badges from the back, really made the vehicle look simple and clean.

    how about some pics?
