    Default Jeep Wrangler Purchase

I am presently looking into a number of options for owning a wrangler jeep.

    1. Buy an old cj model and have it converted to wrangler.

    2. Buy a used wrangler jeep

The second option may be very expensive. Budget is not much.

Kindly tell me what may be the price of a used CJ5 or CJ7 which may be converted to wrangler.

Im thinking of putting in 2L or 2.2L toyota diesel engine to minimize fuel consumption.

What will be the conversion cost and which places are best to have the conversion done.

    Waiting for your expert advice.

    Thanks,

    HI
    i myself own a wrangler(cj-5 converted)
if u want, u can hav an old cj5 from army auction or have a look into the scrap yards
its the best option that u make ur jeep urself bcaz used 4x4 arent that relaible
but if u'll do the project urself, it will minimum take 6 months of hardwork
i dunno abt the places from which conversion can b done in karachi
and ur conversion cost (on just the raw cj-5/7 body) will be around 2.5 to 3 lacs
now its upto u that u go fer 1st option or the second

    AOA,

    Dear Shellcrack,
Bhai Jan never put a small engine in wrangler shape CJ-7!
It will deprive you of torque that is very important for offroading in desert terrain. But if you want to have a cheeky Wrangler all nice and shiney for the city then that's all it will good for.
If have explored quite a bit of the jeep workshops and junkyards in Karachi and might be helpful to you .. you may call me any time on my cell 0301-2281413.
I myself have an old school CJ-7.. with recently upgraded engine from 2.4L to 3.0 1KZ-T.
My CJ-7 can bee seen here
    https://www.pakwheels.com/forumreply_az_TopicID!83143~ForumID!29~pw.html

If you want a CJ-7 with Wrangler looks like the one OOdhblow has then it might cost you around 4.5lacs max.
You can see his ride on the following thread
    https://www.pakwheels.com/forumreply_az_TopicID!82274~ForumID!29~pw.html

With a small 3C-T 2.2L engine it will most probably cost you 3.5lacs max.
Patience is the name of the game ... do plently of research and meet plenty of jeep owners and mechanics then only make a purchase.
    Good luck
    Wasalaam,

    @shellcrack

A fellow pakwheeler (offroad) is selling his Cj-5 converted to wrangler shape.U should check that out as well.
Qaiser Pal,I have not failed. But found 1 of 10,000 ways which doesn't work.....Toyota driver "I couldn't repair my brakes,so i made my horn louder"..When i was born i was so surprised that i didn't talked to one and half year..since light travel faster then sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak..If u can't convince them, confuse them

    Thanks for your replies.

Dear MHAMZA, I wont be using the jeep for any offroading activity, will be keep it cheeky and shiny and on the road.

I think in this case the 2L or 2.2L engines will be just fine since not much torque is required.

The links of jeeps sent by all people are just great. Kindly tell me where can army auctioned jeeps be bought in Karachi. Any specific location in Shershah.

6 months timeline proposed by fizz is too much, wont be able to wait that long. Any chances that the budget could be reduced to 2lac.

    Thanks and take care

    AOA,

    Dear Shellcrack,
CJ-7 frame are hard to find but there are a few in the Old Golimar area and Jhangirabad. One guy was asking 1.3lacs for a CJ-7 which had Sargodha registration. You can also find jeeps on sale on Islamia College road near Mazar-e-Quaid.
With a 2lac budget you will only get Willys 1952 Jeep in reasonable condition not CJ-7
