Default How about Tata, Mahindra, Bajaj, TVS in Pakistan?

Indian car companies like Tata, Mahindra and 2 wheeler comanies like Bajaj and TVS are one of the biggest manufacturers of automobiles in the world (Eg: Bajaj Auto is world's 4'th largest 2 wheeler maker).

These companies are also big exporters of Indian made cars/bikes to many countries in the world including India's neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh.

But sadly these companies have not been able to do business in Pakistan due to political reasons.

    • Has the time now come for these companies to enter Pakistan with its products?

    /li

    • Will the Pakistani consumer accept these Indian automobiles?

    /li

i think with time everyone should move on.i personally would love to see these companies operating in pakistan.i think the designs of bikes r fabulous, given the price tag n r much better than the ones sold in pakistan.such competition would make local companies improve their level of quality n get rid of the stereotypical shape of the current generation bikes.hope to c them in pakistan in the future n it will definately help further ammend indo-pak relations.

Forget it , bro'. This will never happen.IMO, this this thread is a waste of time and space. All these threads opened by my Indian bros and, invariably, one of Libra's "terrorists" will end up attacking the only "soft" target here, namely me. I've stuck around here too long. :d

At the moment it is not. So, let’s have a productive discussion on this issue till we can’t anymore; which is going to happen as you predicted.

What would it take for Indian automakers to be able to do business in Pakistan? Protectionism has been a key component of business strategy of all Pakistani governments of late. This stance will not change overnight. Considering the recently imposed import duties, current lawmakers have their minds already set on furthering the protectionist policy. It seems to work on political level; it has never worked in developed and developing countries. Open markets are what we need in Pakistan if we are serious about competing in the world market and growing our economy beyond agriculture and textile products.

I am in favor of opening our markets for not only Indian auto industry but all Indian products; given that India does the same for all Pakistani products. No excessive tariffs or unnecessary bureaucracy from either countries. Just open markets and let the consumer decide.
My opinions, suggestions and thoughts are strictly my own. I reserve the right to be human and make mistakes.

    @Nickatnite

the same age old mentality of ours need to change and in fact change for the better. In fact I am very pleased to see some positive opinions of a few of my Pakistani friends.

solid business co-operation is a very good way of ensuring better relations among countries.

    Who says its impossible?

Right now even a string of Bollywood films (like Race, Taare Zameen Par, Singh is King) have been officially released in Pakistani theatres. Even the Pakistani Film "Khuda Ke Liye" was released in India.

As I see it, Indian Auto Companies have a huge potential in the Pakistani Market. Indian made cars and bikes are far better than what the Chinese companies presently sell in Pakistan.

As mentioned by nickatnite this thread is opend by the indian pw.this is india's very old desire to occupy pakistani market with its substanderd things as his neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh .No one would buy their car's.Their technology is old.and other thing is india is our enemy. It's today's news that india has stoped our river chenab water.in this situation why some people are crazy for indian low quality products.Evan indians prefer japanees cars over indian cars.even the indian cars are very cheap.Fact is that 90% pakistanis are not willing to buy indian products.

Give the Indian Companies a change to do business with Pakistan and then leave it to the General Pakistani public to decide whether they want to buy the products or not.

Let the buying decide what kind of quality and price they want. As far as I have seen in Pakwheels many Pakistani bikers eagerly want to ride bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar in Pakistan.

U r favouring the indian products like u r the seller of indian products.for ur kind information pakistan is also starts producing worldclass quality bikes like RAVI-PIAGGIEO a joint venture of pakistan and italy. It's technology is far more better than indian bikes. And the other thing is pakistani manufacturers wont allow indians to occupy their market. And the last thing is pakistanis are against indian products until the india leaves occupation of Kashmir.

all i say is that let the business of both countries be allowed to engage in bilateral trade which will only benefit both the countries..

.. and if I am not wrong its a rule of Pakwheels to keep out of political issues.

The Ravi-Piaggio shown above still is a very old design from current Indian standards..

There is resistance from BOTH sides to accept each others products. All the deals I have seen between india and pak are based on an "exchange" basis. Which I think is fare. If IT HAS TO BE A one way trade, then perhaps the indian govt should let pak products in!!! But I dontthink that is going to happen either.

I can however, understand the purpose of this thread/trade, that ofcourse it is good for the indian industry to sell more. But I seriously doubt that the purpose of the trade could possibly be that indian govt is simply sympathetic to pakistani people to supply (so called) "better" products!!!! IF indian govt is soooo sympethetic to pakistanis, then how comes river Ravi, and Chennab are dry today???? If there exists such sympathy then why kashmiris still need to fight and protest against the indian govt?? We need to understand and accept our differences AND that the purpose of this trade is simply to sell more products, and NOT because india wants to equip pakistan with (so called) better vehicles.

Also, our Pakistani market has long been open, to foreign cars way before india opened its market. Remember those days (not long ago), when we could only see very rediculously old looking cars with round headlights in the indian movies!! It is only after the indian govt allowed the import of foreign cars to general public that we see some better cars now. The point here is that india is at this current stage because they themselves forced people to buy those old styled cars that were locally made. Pakistan govt has not put a ban on imports from foreign markets, and hence people are free to buy locally made cars, or buy or bring in foreign made cars, which is a fair game, and also provides a fair healthy competetion. So after forcing people to buy only locally made old styled cars, now india wants other developing countries to import the indian cars???? double standards I say.

The fact is that, what hindustan wants to do to Pakistan, is very similar to what China wants to do to hindustan. Or in other words, what india wants Pakistan to allow, is exactly what inda doesnt allow for the chinese manufacturers!!!

Hence this kind of deal can only work on an exact exchange basis and have to be considered very carefully that it doesnt become a one way deal in the coming future. We need to accept we are who we are due to our history, although the history can not be re-written, but we can and should move on, growing better trade ties, on an "equal" basis.

Indian products are good. Most semi automatic/automaic washing machines are made there.

Electrolux for example, We have a head office here in Luton UK but products and quality products are made in India and sold worldwide.

    Can't say that about Dawlance.

mind leaving out politics of this thread?

The Chinese are free to do business in India. And they do sell Chinese products in India. Likewise Indian software companies have built offices in chinese cities and employ local chinese engineers.

The chinese did try to sell bikes in India. Its just that the Indian public do not buy chinese cars/bikes.
