Default Made in Gawalmandi jeeps, how do they perform???

    Hello Guys,
Can anybody of you have any experience with Local "aadha teetar aadha Batair" jeeps being manufactured/assembled in local markets. I know most of them are Army auctioned jeeps. They have moulds of famous jeeps like Wrangler Jeep and they give shape to jeeps like CJ-7 into a Wrangler style. But I heard that they have problems like road grip...please give your inputs..

    Kind Regards,

Dont worry one day ALLAH will gave you much money and that day you will start your own jeep project. i think you like jeeps alot. the denter and the painter had very tough time to built your friend's jeep.

    @ Hash4u,
This could be a good Antique Jeep and ur friend can get a good money out of it. I am working in an American Oil Company. One of our Pathan colleague used to rebuild the old bikes like Arial and used to sell it to Gora Sahb and in turn that Gora used to take that bike to UK and sell it there. Once he brought a very Old gun for 500 rupees from Peshawar and sold it to Gora for 500 $..:-) Clever thinking

    @tariqzaidi

I am a member of IJC, I have a CJ which was army auctioned and I got it rebuilt/restored with a little modifications like 12" wide tyre and rims, a Toyota B series engine with big bore. Running original diffs, original transfer case DANa 300 but changed to 4:1 low max gears, changed the forward gear box to match engine and difss... inshort, If u know about 4x4 specially what u want, do your home work, read up on it in detail, get involved like getting ur hands dirty with the mechanic to understand what and how, it will not let u down, yes it will not be one of those pretentious ‘American - Jap ’ SUV's. If you want to go off-road (and I mean the kind of off-road that would snap an SUV like a twig, then look no further.
These jeeps were and are ment to live, we have 1942 willys in our group restored to its original state and it out performs most of the new American - Jap ’ SUV's.
As our captain says "Its the man behind the wheel"

    @ Pinkpanthar,
Thanx for you input, Janab you are talking about very technical things, which a layman like myself cannot cope with, and these USTAAD LOG will keep convincing you spend more and more money uselessly. I went once to Gawalmandi to watch the jeeps being built and there I met a man who already had spent 8 lakhs on that wrangler shap jeep and the jeep was still in progress. In this amount anybody can purchase 1992, 3 door land cruiser which our Army is using

thats the point dear, patience and home work before u get into this thing of restoring/modifying jeeps/4x4

inshort, If u know about 4x4 specially what u want, do your home work, read up on it in detail....

then go for it, that way a mechanic wont be able to scrub u

and yes u may be able to get an LC (land cruiser) but an SUV is an SUV and a jeep is a jeep...

    Just my humble opinion

    @ pinkpanther,
Since u belong to IJC and u must know about high performance and reliable jeeps for sale. Kindly inform me if someone is selling a jeep or SUV..price should be in below 13 lakh..In jeep I am more inspired with Wrangler shap

sure I will let u know, just a heads up that there is no original wrangler here in Pak except for some which were imported, mostly, CJ-7 body is modified to make it closer to or look alike a wrangler

I think u should invite tariq sb to one of IJC's weekend trips to see the performance of gawalmandi made jeeps..
Qaiser Pal,I have not failed. But found 1 of 10,000 ways which doesn't work.....Toyota driver "I couldn't repair my brakes,so i made my horn louder"..When i was born i was so surprised that i didn't talked to one and half year..since light travel faster then sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak..If u can't convince them, confuse them

    Assalam-o-Alaikum,
I need a pickup that can carry weight around 1,1.5 or 2 ton. I have heard that old datsun are ideal for this kind of work. but i need something that can carry enough weight plus it should have an offroading capability. Right now i have searched a little on king size cabins i think they might be available in reconditoned or used cars from japan. Another option would be to build one. Kindly give me suggestions

    Hello there
Nicely summed up by Pinkpanther.. In my experience, the first thing to do is to get on the net and learn about the 4x4s. Meet people around who know about them and learn from them. It will take some time but simple basic knowledge can help you avoid those know-nothing-ustaads and find the Ustaad amongst the crown to get your 4x4 built. Even if you want to buy one off the market, you have to have some basic understanding to avoid being ripped off..
The best thing to do would be to join IJC on a couple of trips and see what you want for yourself. IJC members know a lot of mechanics and ustaads and you can use that to find the right guy to build your vehicle or to get one that you want to buy checked up.
    Just my 2 cents.
    Thanks
    Ehsan
