    I think it would be possible if you got the same surf engine but the diesel version you can fit wid some adjustments. Lets wait for some Expert opinion.

    Why not spend a bit more and buy an Original Diesel Surf and it will save you big money and a lot of maintenance nightmares in longer run.

    Isn't the trend towards Petrol now? I mean with diesel prices going up and petrol down.

    Thanx for you inputs. One of my colleague from UK told me that Diesel Engine has better torque and power than a petrol engine. Its good for mountains or heights....As far as price is concerned then remember this is Pakistan, nothing is for sure..You see what happened to CNG. Govt encouraged CNG so much and now everything is on stake..thanks to our short term and unfair policies.

    well tariq i agree with your terminiology of our short term and inconsistent policies, but still having petrol engine is better than diesel engine...

    In case you want a diesel engine, buying a diesel car is preferred over over petrol, moreover conversion is also possible and with minor alteration and not much cost you might get that installed as well. I mentioned not much cost as your petrol engine for surf would be sold out at a good price as well..

    Regards,

    if you already have a petrol 2.7L then you'd be better off either selling it and replacing it with a diesel version, or just fitting a turbo to the 2.7L petrol engine (yes it can be done).

    DO NOT swap out the engines, there are too many things whcih could go wrong and that will lead to alot of headaaches and eventually you'll have to sell it and replace it with a diesel model.

    @tariqzaidi

    u r right. I used to own a 1999 Surf with 1KZ diesel engine. it really had superb power and massive torque. however diesel is being discouraged world-wide and we seem to be having a ripple effect by seeing same prices for petrol and diesel for the first time in recent history.

    swapping 2.7L petrol with 1KZ engine can have issues such as the front suspension. 1KZ engine is much heavier than the 2.7L petrol and you may need to change front struts and springs accordingly. as far as i know the foundation should not be an issue.
    however if i were u, i would go for the 4.0L petrol (1GR-FE) optional engine which offers even better power and torque than 1KZ diesel.

    Hi Tariq,

    You can do all this but whats the point of doing that. Its rather more better to buy a Diesel Surf or keep it with a patrol engine.....

    @iftikharmohammad,
    Actually its just to clarify myself because some people swap the engines. Since Surf comes in both versions so i was wondering about the swap..I am not going to swap. I believe on original set up. (Y)

    I do not reccomend any swaps. It is easier said than done and is certainly not as simple as taking out an engine and putting in a new one.

    I am surprised at the Poster already thinking about switching to a Diesel engine and he has not even bought the vehicle

    Get a handle on urself dude. Save urself a lot of trouble. and dont ruin ur future PETROL Surf just because u have the money but not the brain cells.

    Simply buy a diesel Surf and remember the statement that i made earlier "it is easier said than done?" Also remember that the vehicle is not likely to feel like ur friend's original diesel surf no matter what u do

    Janab don't be surprise, first you make the ground and then you play or you will play first and then make the ground. Its always better to collect information and then act..its nothing to do with brain cells. Actually I don't have much knowledge of 4X4 vehicles available in the market, so this thread was a good guidline for me to take final decision..thanx any way for the input
