@speedracer welcome to the club, well in your budget of 7 lacs you have a lot of toys to play with. I would suggest 70 series landcruiser for your project. As it is your first project you should not go for engine conversions etc. Get good offroad mud terrain tyres installed i.e. BF Goodrich M/T, Yokohama Goelandar M/T etc.
To all the extreme drivers, please come offroad like ME to keep others safe on the roads.

@aamir567.....speedracer mentioned 7 lac in his intro.

@speedracer, brother its good to know u r joining the league. Can I ask you something that will definitely help you and others to decide your future course of action?

    1. Matric @ age 29??? Just joking.
    2. Do you have any prior experience of overhauling , thorough maintenance of automobiles etc. Not just tunings? Otherwise its going to take longer than usual while learning on the way.
    3. How much theoretical & practical knowledge do you have about the type of issues that arise with overhauling?
    4. Can you spare frequent visits & hours of sittings with the technical people (mechanic, electrician, denter, painter etc.) working on your vehicle? Lets say about six months on the toes.

You have more than sufficient budget to get a scraped vehicle into a show stopper.

Insha Allah things will work out fine.

    Good luck

It seems you have made the right decision by going for a well maintained vehicle rather than getting into fixing one. Take a look at the following vehicles and see if its something what u have in your mind.

Toyota is reccommended due to better performance, avaiability of parts, maintenance & resale.

This is close to the one suggested by IJC.

    @tareen

Well, i really appreciate ur efforts bro..
    thanx..

bUh i checked da links and waz wonderin.. dat aren't these landcruisers too much big .. i mean dey are huge .. n i wanna take em to northern areas for some real 4x4 fun.. on narrow roads and turns.. i know they are powerful..

but.. for a newbie like me..

Can i control such huge machines on narrow and small turns??

i mean somethngs like CJ-5 will be more ideal i think..

P.S i have driving experience of more than 3 years..

i've drove my XLi to NORTHERN areas.. uptill KHUNJERAB PASS..

Its always a pleasure to be of any help to a brother.

The first two are recommended, rest are just for reference to drop out the unnecessary and shortlist.

Any three door 4x4 is almost the same in size. May it be a CJ, a Toyota FJ/BJ40, or 70 series. Why 70 series is recommended is because it comes with many useful standard like A/c, heater, power steering, comfortable seating even for family use, looks modern compared to older hardcore 3/2 door 4x4s in the market.

And you can find it within your budget. The first 2 links are about his type of vehicle.

    Hope it helps

    Cheers
