    Default TD42T- Nissan Patrol 4.2 V6

How much would the said engine TD42T used cost in Pakistan? Looking for the price of the complete components with auto gear box and all. Looking for the one that came in the 3rd Gen Y60. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Rao.

Thanks, that's what I had in mind. But if I already have a Patrol 2.8 TD with an auto gearbox, would i have to look for another 4.2 auto gearbox? Sorry, don't know too much about this stuff.

As 2.8 td is also 6 cylinder so the rpm will match with 4.2 also so I dont think you need to change the gearbox.

I will be buying a 2.8 TD straight 6 Patrol. What worries me is that a 4.2 is so difficult to find, then if the 2.8 TD goes bust then I'll never find parts to overhaul or replace. Correct?

So what would my other options be if this 2.8 TD did die? Would it be better to look at maybe the toyota 1KZ engines and gearboxes (which sort of defeats my purpose of getting a Patrol in the first place), or would I be able to find a replacement under the Nissan name?

In my experience, I have driven a TD42 Patrol, and it goes for the first couple of RPM and then feels like it has a tremendous power loss. This 2.8 TD doesn't go in the initial RPM range like the TD 42, but it does accelerate steadily till the RPM allows it to.

Please do comment on my replacement engine question. Thanks.

    Correction Jeepaholic,

There is no such engine as a TD28, there is TD27 straight 4, or there is a RD28 straight 6.

Sherwan_88, thanks, I have "doned" a deal for the Patrol today, its the RD28 inline 6 engine, not the TD27.
Hope to have the car by this weekend!
