    if it costs Rs. 6.1 million in Pakistan and starts at PKR 37 lac, how can it be "over fifty percent expensive"?

    is Cultus really worth Rs. 0.9 million? biggest **** is the last of the Cultus was produced in 1997 in the UK. that too with four seat belts, efi, abs and all. here vot do you get? m not technical at all but Spectra told that the Cultus in Pakistan is not even fully Efi. yet ppl buy like mad. or vot about a Mehrban for Rs. 5 lac? Shitvic with no rer ashtray, front seats' plastic that causes gap between itself and the foam, can't see front or rear of the car well, and still ppl happy paying Rs. 1.3 million? Citys with cheap silver matierial that comes off soon? almost all manufacturers are the same, no?

    I really doubt the figures you mentioned for the price of Camry in India. It is too expensive. My friend bought a new camry in Dubai in Sept 2008 at a lump sum payment of 72,000 Dirham, which equals around 15 lac Pak Rupees. The orignial price was 79,000 AED, but there was a deal by Toyota people there due to which he got it in 72k.

    Post recession, the prices of cars in Dubai have declined further with even better and attractive discount deals. Here in Pakistan, we are just being plundered when it comes to the sale of luxury imported cars.

    yes.camry's prices are revised and it is 21-23lakhs Indian Rupees ex-showroom.on road .there are other contenders in the market like honda's offers ,hence the reduction.

    @haroon: na baba.maruti esteem(margalla in pakistan?) comes with 1.3litre petrol costed around 2.4lakhs IIRC.
    the production of maruti esteem stopped in 2007
    maruti baleno was a flop in India.while maruti 1000 was a model in 1991-92 if I remember correctly/IIRC which had stopped production very soon. unlike the rumors ,there is not that much price difference in India.

    Toyota Camry Price differential India vs Pakistan -974509

    I hope ,after tata nano sales thrives ,these manufacturers will reduce the prizes. I have heard that a maruti 800/mehran in India costs company around 38000 indian rupees(60000 pakistan rupees) to produce and they sells it at 1.8lakhs indian rupees.imagine the profit!It is speculated that most car models are sold for thrice the premium to recover the costs(or so in name!)

    check the car prices in India for yourself!we are not getting that much cheap here! Land cruisers are anywhere from 75lakhs indian rupees onwards!may be they have not localized the parts for landcruisers and camrys ,hence the heavy price tag.

    @malabar

    2.4 lakhs for Esteem is still pretty awesome, even if you convert to PKR it should not be more than 3.6 lakhs. we get Suzuki Mehran for abt 5.2 lakhs plus 30-40k premium and its 800 cc. isnt it ridiculous? and the worst part is ... people are still very enthusiastic about buying this piece of junk, hence the premium!!!
