Default Best car for a student?

Hello, My name is Ameer and i'm from chicago, i recently got accepted to Quideazam medschool and well since i'll be coming to Pakistan for 5 years, I really needed help deciding the right car! I came here because i've seen all these car enthusiasts in Pakistan, and you guys have a better idea of the conditions and cars in pakisan a hell of a lot better than me .

I'm 17 will turn 18 on May 28th, so please you suggestions will be really appriciated. my budget is 2.000.000 at max but hopefully something clost to 1,700,000 is more realistic, the car can be used or new no problem, i don't really know much but my family back home owns civics and carollas, here in US i drive a g35 2005, so im more of a fast driver, but than again the pajero is a very reliable muscular car, so please help me out!!

    Thanks!

hey how about a brand new city? and mod that up? put some rims and intake?? hmm sounds good or is the city too small? btw i was looking at the parados they fit the budget, but seriously why the hell do they only have 2 doors? and a 3.5 liter engine? idk about you peepz but here a car like that has like 5 entry doors.

There are 5 door prados available, idk where you looked it up...

A city is a good choice, but if a civic fits your budget its the better one

Karachi has traffic jam problems, people drive without discipline, specially the motorcylists and buses, plus there are parking problems everywhere you go. you will definitely not enjoy a big car like a prado or an accord.
i would recommend you the new suzuki swift, if you want to drive manual, or the new city if you want auto, they are small and will help you cruise around with ease.

Everyone's hands itch when they have a lot of money to spend on a car, but try and think long term and get a small reliable car that won't break the bank to maintain. I can get you a running, working, not-so-shabby looking Porsche 944 for under $5000, but getting a simple thing like a wheel bearing changed costs 3x as much as Japanese cars... we all know why. Over here we're accustomed to getting oils and belts changed because there are regulations here that mandate certain other car parts to last a given time. There's a DOT regulation that says timing belts have to be changed before 100xxx. In pakistan, there isn't any mandate in place... for anything!

I'd suggest something small like that Swift, or a Civic at most. Also, I strongly suggest against anything with a high center of gravity. One of our closest friends died in a Prado no more than 3 weeks ago. You say you're a fast driver, and you know for a fact you won't control yourself from going fast. So get a car, don't get an SUV.

Well it looks exactly like the Acura TSX in america, and it has a 2000cc petrol engine. Options are pretty much the same as CL9.

IF i have the similar scenario ,that you have ,my options will be ....

    Suzuki Swift
Small , powerful , easily maneuverable , stylish , easy to maintained ,decent ground clearance , its 11,00,000 Rs, u can save money as well ,as its way under budget, but manual might be a issue for you i guess ...

    Honda city new
compact , powerful, easy to maintained , way under ur budget.....

Honda Civic VTI oriel Prosmatic new
Powerful , best Pakistan assembled car now a days ....under ur budget

    Toyota Altis 1.8 Sr
    Corolla is corolla ,lolz....

ALL above these are local assembled ,parts & maintenance would not be issue for you....

1996-2000 Prado, 1998-2002 Pajero , CL7 ,Cl9 , Toyota MArk 2 ,are under ur budget as well ,and seems like a good buy as compared to any local assemble car , but maintenance would be a little problem for you ,as you are coming to pakistan first time....although Mark 2 is the best option i guess in this lot....
But as most people says " Brand new car is brand new"

Easiest is to test drive an Acura TSX here. Find a dealer with a TSX in stock nearby and and see how the car feels. To be honest though, it's an Accord engine with a shorter wheelbase. Driving characteristics shouldn't be too different or drastic. Most Japanese cars drive the same.
