Default Best car for a student?

Hello, My name is Ameer and i'm from chicago, i recently got accepted to Quideazam medschool and well since i'll be coming to Pakistan for 5 years, I really needed help deciding the right car! I came here because i've seen all these car enthusiasts in Pakistan, and you guys have a better idea of the conditions and cars in pakisan a hell of a lot better than me .

I'm 17 will turn 18 on May 28th, so please you suggestions will be really appriciated. my budget is 2.000.000 at max but hopefully something clost to 1,700,000 is more realistic, the car can be used or new no problem, i don't really know much but my family back home owns civics and carollas, here in US i drive a g35 2005, so im more of a fast driver, but than again the pajero is a very reliable muscular car, so please help me out!!

    Thanks!

Honda Civic 2010 VTi Oriel Prosmatec would be the best option for you in this budget.
It has ABS+EBD, Airbags, Roomy Interior, Aerodynamic Exterior, Very Comfortable, Great handling etc. and not to forget it has an OVERpowered i-VTEC engine which beats the sh*t out of almost every car in its class here! What else do you need?? Go for it!

Umm, I am a student and I drive a Civic 96, Personally the civic works perfectly for me. It can be speedy when I want, and it can offer a nice drive when I want. In that budget you should probably go for a the new Civic 09-10. Buh if you are not into that then you could go for a Toyota Camry(no idea about its price but really nice drive). Or you could even go for a Sportage maybe .. . ....

Power at high revs, fuel economy at low revs. That's the GIST.

As for the maintenance, it's the same across the board. The parts in most circumstances should last you a while. When you have to get parts replaced, you'll probably take it to the dealer and he'll get the issue fixed... for however much.

With an imported car like the Accord CL7/9, someone will have to source the affected part for you from Dubai or Japan.. wherever, and you'll have to pay quite a lot more than if it were a locally assembled part.

I c, so the maintinance for civic is a simple and on the go? so say i buy a new civic, it'll be no probz takin it around and what not? well that'd be great, so one last thing, the civic will hold up from sargodha to lahore, lahore to rawalpindi, islamabad to jelum and etc.no fears of tires exploding or anything hmm? my cousin in the army he is a major had a 05 vitzz, great car, but on the way to rawalpindi from sargodha, he was i guess speeding and boom, when the tire, he got the car under control, it was in about early june of 2007.....so nothing like that hopefully with the civic?

Tire explosions don't really matter very much on the specific tire than on the external conditions around it. Keep your tire pressures in check and you should be fine. That said however, the Civic in Pakistan comes with some locally manufactured EuroStar tire... we here on Pakwheels hate it whenever Pakistan makes a positive step to automotive innovation Most people get the tires changed to Dunlops or Bridgestones. I would suggest you consider doing the same if you get a Civic.

THAT said, the older model 04-06 civics came with Dunlops, and our car's tire went at around 130km/h.

That depends. Honestly speaking, I don't think there's really a big issue with the tires. You could even wait a few thousand km's, or just not change them at all...

I don't know how they perform, so I can't really tell you.

Stock civic tires preform just fine, no worries at all. Also do take into consideration that driving here is much harder then abroad. Not everyone who come from abroad can manuever a (big) car through traffic and that too lahore traffic. It took me a whole year and now i drive with confidence.

No offence but your expirience will go to the dogs once you try and drive with abunch of bikers on your left and a truck on your right so damn close that you can only the see the wheel of the damned thing.
Though whatever you go for make sure it has abs and airbags :-)
Goodluck and do let us know.

I totally agree, if you have no experience driving in Pakistan you better buy yourself a hatchback first, i would advise even smaller Mini Pajero, get used to Pakistani conditions first, then upgrade in a few months.
