Default Why is the price of cars in Pakistan 3-4times expensive than in any other country !?

I would like to read the views of our experts in this forum or visiting, i recently moved to saudi arabia and am shocked to see that the price of
CAMRY (which is considered a basic mid size car here ) in Saudi Arabia costs only 1.400.000Rs. 14 lacs only !!! and the price of CAMRY in pakistan is Rs.6.700.000Rs. 67 lacs , that is almost more than 300% , considering the policies on Petrol/fuel/cng , these cars if not low should be sold for atleast the same amount due to the heavy petrol prices , but why isn't anyone doing anything to ease the burden of a common man so that HE TOO can have a chance to improve his standards !?

Prices are 3-4 times higher because quality is 3-4 times lower. According to latest theories of TQM, lower the quality higher the prices. Mind you this model of TQM is not released in the market yet so it may look like a joke to you.

not only on imported cars......the local industry are paying high duties to import the parts too!

Considering they are not manufactuering....assembling instead will be a better word.

Simple answer. From the president to the Clerk, eveyone in the Govt eats Haraam (Commission or Rishwat).

car is priced higher because rupee value is low in world currency market. You work hard ,raise up the currency by more exports and less imports, rupee value will go up and you will increase yr purchase power. ,, otherwise its downfall of rupee and a serious one when your grand children will be buying a car,

car prices in pakistan are high mainly because of lofty taxes..

the govt. of pakistan exclusively (without pocketing ANY of it) uses the revenue raised in those taxes to provide the general public with better amenities, nice and smooth sealed roads all across the country, high quality infrastructure - seen like nowhere else in the world, to initiate developmental projects and so on and so forth..

In the rest of the countries where car prices are lower, you wouldn't see such quality services there whatsoever.. so its for the betterment of the general public to have such high taxes - after all the money raised is being put to the best of its use..

P.S. Welcome to the Banana Republic..
What have you been grateful for today..?

@True Eye, do you know who is the biggest looser among us ? those who make this world their home

It gives me goosebumps when i think of a little sin, that i did knowingly, will lead to a long time suffering, Astaghfirullah, what about the bigger sins

Rasool-Allah (s.a.w.w) even after He (s.a.w.w) had won the Arabia used to sleep on such a mattress that used to leave marks on His (s.a.w.w)'s body, He never slept comfortably as He had to wakeup for the night prayers, the prayers so long which used to make Rasool-Allah's feet swollen, a King, who used to eat a few dates and drink plain water and stay away from cooked meals / bread for several days at a time, Allah-u-Akbar.

Its said that the wealthier you are the longer will be your accountability even if you have all your deeds correct, there will be people who ll be standing at the gates of Heaven for a long time until they may clarify that why did they bought a second ride when they had one, and why a ride when you knew that there were thousands of those around dying of hunger, of illness ?

This life is very short, a "Dhoka", a little "khel tamasha" as Allah has called it in the Quran and we, our leaders are enjoying this khel tamasha as if it will last very long

Yes thats the biggest joke. Camry price in Dubai is also around 14 lac Pakistani Rupee equivalent. And here it's above 60 lacs. It's robbery. If anything, prices of Camry should be lower in Pakistan, due to low purchasing power & salaries level here.

Karach is the cheapest city in the world. It was ranked 147 in 2008 in the list of most expensive cities of the world. The survey was done for 148 biggest cities around the world (Karachi was only city chosen from Pakistan). The Survey was topped by European cities (Oslo, London) and Tokyo etc. Dubai was at around 30 or 50 (can't remember). A Paraguy's city was the last followed by Karachi. This is mainly because prices of almost everything in Karachi is lower than that in let's say London...like rental expenses, cost of a similar size house, cost of education, cost of utilities, communication, transportation, food. That's all understandable, because of the purchasing power concept. Due to low purchasing power, prices are dragged down as prices are a function of disposable income. In Dubai or London, basic salaries are 10 times that of the equivalent work you do in Pakistan.

So based on that, Camry price should be lower than 10 lacs rupee, if it is 14 lacs rupee in Dubai/Saudia. Yet, we are being charged a price tag of over 60 lacs, and the biggets irony is that, people are still buying at that price!

I really believe people who are buying Camry in that price, they are the biggest culprits as it is due to them, prices of Camry (and other cars that are heavily over-priced) are not lowered.

Wow, comparing Dubai and Pakistan can only be done in the dreams. Cool!

Look at the west, how they are breaking the remaining power in the hands of few Arabian countries by crying out loud about green energy. The future plans of the major auto manufacturers do not have Gasoline as their engine operator.

10 years from now, .... food for thought!

The prices charged by the looter Assemblers Mafia, in Pakistan are Un-freaking Believable. These fake auto assemblers in Pakistan make the most amount of Money per car in the world out of Non-luxury cars, yet there is no real competition in Pakistan, only a handful of like minded thieves. Even then no real Auto maker has stepped up and come into Pakistan in a real way, like manufaturing the whole car in Paksitan. Why is that? The Gov't does not let them, because they take money from this illegal looters car assemblers mafia there.

The Same Camry in USA costs around mid $20,000 or roughly about 16 or 17 Lac or so. But this figure of 60 Lac means around $80,000 US dollars for a freaking "NON LUXURY" mid-size car. The Lexus brand is a True Luxury brand, but not Camry. Camry or Accord is not considered a Luxury car anywhere in the world, not even in Africa. Only in Pakistan these looter Mafia have ripped off people so much, that they are charging a price of Lexus LS430 Hybrid, a top of the line Toyota. Even Mercedez Top of the Line S500 can be bought for around $80,000 around the world.

You can get a decent size House in many states in America for $ 80,000 (specially now, due to recession), I know so from the fact.

It is so sad, and to top it all, no one is doing anything to improve the situation. This Assembler Mafia is not helping Pakistan one bit. They have not even attempted to assemble 100% car in Pakistan no even one, after almost 30 years of assembling. It is obvious they are in Pakistan to loot, and do nothing else.
