Pedrosa and Dovizioso make good starts
Repsol Honda Team riders Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso clocked the third and fourth fastest times in the opening practice session for this weekend’s Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya as the MotoGP series was given a very warm welcome back to Spain today. Air temperatures soared to 37ºC and the track surface reached a tyre-sizzling 53ºC as Pedrosa and Dovizioso lapped the fast, undulating curves of the Circuit de Catalunya.

Spies quick off the mark at Catalunya
Ben Spies continued his impressive adaptation to MotoGP on Friday afternoon by going fifth fastest in the opening practice at Montmeló, another new circuit to the American in his debut season in MotoGP.

    Moto2
El*as at the forefront in first session
Eager to delight a strong home support this weekend at Montmeló and with a Championship lead to maintain, Toni El*as set off on the right foot on Friday afternoon by topping the opening practice session with a best time of 1’48.425. The Gresini Racing Moto2 rider posted his effort on the 23rd of 25 laps, placing him 0.107s clear at the head of the timings.

i watched the MotoGP race today... MotoGp looked so interesting with so many overtaking moves -Moto GP- Season 2010- - icon14 ...

Stoner was lucky to get the podium... poor Dovizioso fell off the bike on 15th lap... he was putting immense pressure on Lorenzo...

Pedrosa was off to flying start but missed the braking point at first corner and slipped to 6th or 7th place...

Stoner then missed the braking point at first corner on lap 10 and slipped to 4th...

Lorenzo drove brilliantly -Moto GP- Season 2010- - icon14 ... MotoGp was fun to watch...

Rossi could return earlier than planned
Valentino Rossi could return to racing action earlier than expected following his injuries during the Italian Grand Prix. The Yamaha rider has been out of action since he broke his leg in a crash at Mugello, and had said last month that he was aiming to return to racing at the Czech Grand Prix in August.
However, Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Rossi is likely to test a Yamaha R1 road bike on Thursday at the Misano circuit, to assess his conditions ahead of a possible return to MotoGP at the Sachsenring race on 18 July.

Dovizioso: Brake issue a factor in fall
Andrea Dovizioso says a brake problem contributed to the crash that cost him a shot at victory in the Catalunya Grand Prix. The Honda rider was chasing leader Jorge Lorenzo when he fell at half-distance. He was able to climb out of the gravel and continue, but finished only 14th.
"Today we had a really good race pace and we could have fought with Lorenzo for the win at the end of the race," Dovizioso said.
Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    MotoGP
Rossi to test Superbike in Italy today
Yamaha has confirmed that Valentino Rossi will test a Superbike at Misano today, amid suggestions that the injured world champion could return to MotoGP as early as the next round at the Sachsenring.

If that happens I would be very happy, but in reality I want him to take his time before returning because any new injury could complicate the previous injury.

Marco Simoncelli came tantalisingly close to his highest MotoGP finish to date in his debut premier class season at the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya on Sunday, but a crash ended his race when he was running in sixth place with his eye on pushing even further.

Hard-riding Edwards on a tough weekend
Colin Edwards encountered front end problems in the race at Montmeló on Sunday which prevented the American rider from pushing for higher than the 11th place he eventually finished in.

    Spies ascendancy continues at Sachsenring
Ben Spies’ ability to learn new tracks in extremely short amounts of time was once more displayed at Sachsenring on Friday afternoon, where the American rookie set the fourth quickest lap of the opening practice session at the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

Very happy to see Rossi back and competitive, as he is only .02 secs down on Championship leader and teammate Jorge Lorenzo, but as Rossi has said himself that how will the race proceed is another thing, so just wishing him best of luck.
