    Adrian Newey says Sebastian Vettel wants to clinch world championship in style
    Sebastian Vettel's spectacular overtaking move on Fernando Alonso to take the lead of last week's Italian Grand Prix is proof that he wants to win the world championship in style, according to Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey.

    @m_waqas
    Let me correct you about some thing, its not half of Karachi living in Gulshan but more like most of PW F1 fans living in or near Gulshan. And lets be honest would you like to visit Katti Pahari if someone says that he is living their.

    Adrian Newey se yaad aya, I don't know if most of you guys know that the car Ayrton Senna crashed in was designed by Newey.
    And when that tyre blistering thing happened in 2nd last race, Newey was most worried of all RBR people. Cause after Senna's death, driver safety ranks really really high in Newey's list when designing a car.
    And you could actually see the relief on Newey's face when that tyre blistering race [Spa] finished without any mishap.

    Default Indian F1 GP update

    This ad is really tacky, What does a country's national flag got to do with a F1 race?. But the article does shed light on the logistics involved in organizing an event like this and the amount of money involved.

    -Formula 1 - Season 2011 -301283

    -Formula 1 - Season 2011 -301284

    Grand Prix Formula One race: Logistics race to move 1,500 tonnes of cargo on time.
    ET Bureau Sep 17, 2011, 03.52am IST

    The race against time has begun for the inaugural Airtel Grand Prix Formula One race in India even before fast cars arrive to blaze the newly-laid tarmac on October 30. In dry runs this week, organisers of the event have carried out probably the biggest logistics drill of its kind in the country.

    They need to prepare down to the last detail as they will transfer planeloads of equipment from the Indira Gandhi International Airport to the Buddh International Cicruit in Greater Noida near Delhi. Five Boeing 747-400F jets will descend at the T2 terminal, dedicated for the event, and fly in 24 racing cars (two for each of the 12 teams), engines, tyres and spares, racesensitive equipment like high-tech gadgets, TV equipment, computers, radio sets and timing equipment, besides equipment that will connect the drivers and their cars to their support staff throughout the race.

    Each team, flying separate jets, is also expected to bring in 100-200 staff. These will include chefs, engineers and telemetry specialists along with specialist staff for tyres, tarmac and fuel - who carry all their stuff to races around the world - and a huge amount of food and stationery.

    This will be in addition to the tonnes of cargo - including 30,000 litres of high-octane petrol and furnishings and equipment for hospitality at the paddock club - that have already started arriving by sea and the items being sourced from within the country, including 40,000 litres of diesel from IndianOil. There is no room for error for the 30-odd people from Jaypee Sports International (JPSI), the organiser of the India race and owner of the racetrack; RE Rogers, the logistics partner; and the Delhi airport.

    JPSI has set a standard of four hours to unload the entire cargo at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and get it going to the track. The time taken to get the cargo from tarmac to tarmac has been pegged at no less than 10 hours.

    This will include the time taken for customs clearances, documentation as well as four hours of travel. JPSI and RE Rogers have mapped all the routes for the trucks to move from the airport to the track and have ascertained the best route to be used. Route surveys, involving photographing all parts of the route as well as the important signages, studying potential roadblocks and height clearances for the trailers, are being undertaken.

    It's massive and precise. None of the equipment is replaceable immediately and there is no time to replace either," says Sameer Gaur, managing director and chief executive officer of JPSI, whose specialists have shadowed two F1 races in Sepang (Malaysia) and Istanbul (Turkey) to prepare for the job.

    yes i might attend Autocross especially after the way Fahad described the 'benefits' of attending it (no not the free Redbulls ),.. something inside me is telling me that i should attend .. and if things don't turn out to be the way described by fahad then Fahad will be in big trouble

    but i cannot confirm on the basis that i may have some quiz or imp. lecture.. but this event is on my radar now..

    haha.. don't patronize us buddy :p just kidding... Indian Flag should be there.. its great achievement for your country ... F1 is not just any sport, its kind of status symbol for countries hosting it..

    and ya the logistics are mind boggling.. but it happens every race weekend. It's the first time for India so it will be a great learning experience for people involved in managing this race there.

    so Airtel is the only major sponsor?

    of course.. blood sucker Bernie.. Nick, one advise, try to stay away from Bernie :p .. he doesn't care about anything but money.. i hope India has enough money in its books to keep Bernie satisfied..

    @All
    I will not be able to attend the Autocross because I already have some commitments on that very night. So, if every one of you wants to go to Autocross then don't spoil your plans because of me. GO ahead with GTG at Autocross.

    I think @Nick is right because the way Indian Government is handling issues with the up coming race its looks like they don't want it at all, then why show the Indian Flag when the event doesnot have any importance of the national level for them.

    They are having issues with visas for drivers and teams, they want to charge extra ordinary level of custom duty on the teams for their equipment and last but not least they don't even consider F1 as sport, rather they consider it as entertainment. Amazingly the track is also not build by Indian government funding its a private venture with total private fundings.

    Yes, Adrian Newey has designed the car FW16 in which Senna dies as Newey was the chief designer of Williams team from 91 till 97.

    If any of the above comment is wrong about Indian government, feel free to correct me as all of the above comments are based on what I have read from other forums and news articles.

    naah,discount everything you read by 50%. Without the Lady on Raisina Hill giving her assent F1 would never have come to India, meaning without the Govt. assisting there'll be nada. This is just posturing and bargaining by the Corporate coolies and the blood sucking FIA by spreading misinformation. Having said that, i'm sure there will be initial difficulties dealing with the tax man as this is a new venture. In the end, all will be sorted out and the event will happen as national pride is involved. Anyways, thankfully the Govt. isn't setting up this event at all, only enabling it. Govt. has no business being involved. It is an event and like any event the organizers should set it up. Like the BCCI, which is an independant body run by a corporate guy with people from all walks of life including Govt. running it but not directly funded or supported by the Govt.I find it tacky using the flag to generate enthusiasm for a commercial sporting event, though this is done in the US too. They sing the national anthem at the beginning of most games, especially the Superbowl, like they're playing another country.lol
