    These figures include car sold to every branch. From a private individual railway ministry.

    Corolla Gli and Xli are being used in EVERY MINISTRY and around 2000 corolla's are in service with Punjab Government.

    In Armed Forces, Every Brigadier/Air Commodore/Captain[Navy] is provided a full size sedan and corolla is their perfect choice.
    After the decision to limit the car the "CC" of government cars to just 1500 in ministries, all the 1.6 Civics, 1.8 Altis/Civic's were axed and corolla Gli along with City iDSI were brought in huge numbers.

    But still high level ministries use civic 1.8 as their official car.

    Judges upto high court level also use 2010 Corolla GLi.

    @^ add a major user of Corolla in the interior side,
    Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

    If people are complaining about the economy then who's buying these? Are these figures reliable?
    Govt. uses nothing but XLi/GLi.

    So do many offices. I can bet you half of the cultus sales are corporate. I was reading an old Annual Report of MCB a few days ago, and 90% of the cars that were sold off by the bank were Cultus.

    I visited a Multi National company in Islamabad for some business purpose::

    That company owned more than 100 Civic's, all were VTI Oriel prosmatic, All were in golden Color all had Sequence wise Number from 1-100 and was parked number wise... i got to know from one driver.. that they sell all the cars before end of june and buy in start of July every year... but they always buy top of the line Civics....

    Consider this information to sales of july 2005. Not a direct comparison but you can still see the trend.

    JULY 2005
    1. Suzuki Mehran: 2,526
    2. Toyota Corolla: 2,084
    3. Honda City: 1,665
    4. Suzuki Cultus: 1,400
    5. Honda Civic: 1,220
    6. Suzuki Alto: 894
    7. Daihatsu Cuore: 741
    8. Suzuki Baleno: 695
    9. Suzuki Bolan: 612
    10. Hyundai Santro: 278
    Honda City is the third best performing car. So what went wrong?

    In my opinion, the designers concentrated too much on the design itself rather than the market. Now adding cool tech is all good, but they should have realized one thing..looks and size does matter.

    If you are making a car that is equivalent to a corolla in price, then you must put in something there to attract the consumer.

    Firstly, the new city is smaller in size then the new corolla...a big negative point for city. In Pakistan, size does matter and sorry Honda, your compact design might be better and even more practical but you failed the read the market and the consumer's mind.

    Secondly, you are producing (or even introducing) a car for Pakistan and you should know its road conditions. Have something in it for comfort like better suspensions and more room (again the argument of size).

    Thirdly, during most of 90s, it was the civic that competed with Corolla. So keep that psychology in mind. A city is generally considered to be inferior to a Corolla. Nobody's willing to pay the same amount and be considered to have bought a "smaller car". Would have been much better to downgrade city to compete with other models and have lower grade Civic compete with Corolla ranges. You seriously need someone trained in industrial psychology. A lower priced City (with lower specs) will dominate the likes of Swift,Liana and second hand imports.

    Fourthly, all those ABS and what not are all cool but only if they come in additions to the basic requirement of the consumer. In simpler words, concentrate on the size, shape, and psychology because that is what will win you customers.

    Finally, consider investing some money in the local market so spares of Honda become slightly cheaper and comparable to Corolla.

    If anyone from Honda Pakistan is reading this, you do have a better product but are still failing. Time to realize you have been doing something very wrong. There is no reason for Toyota to be selling so many corollas when you can produce better cars. Those numbers (of sales) could be yours in a few years with the right understanding and approach to this market.

    ^boss, kheiriyat haina?? your comparing 2011 stats with 2005 data , That too of a particular month, where as here the topics about the whole year (2010)

    Sir firstly Honda Pakistan does not dictate the design of their Cars its Honda International meaning the car exactly the same across all Countries

    Secondly considering International Market Honda City has never been a competitor for Toyota Corolla
    Honda City ~ Toyota Belta = Sub Compact Sedan
    Honda Civic ~ Toyota Corolla = Compact Sedan

    naturally Compact Sedans r larger comparatively

    one thing u shuld also know is Toyota Corolla starts off with 1.6L Engine in international market but in Pakistan its being sold as 1.3L

    reason why in Pakistan we compare Honda City to Toyota Corolla is because Toyota Indus sells a very very stripped down Corolla in Pakistan
    take XLi as example it has nothing BUT C Sedan Size which matters in Pakistan
    GLi is very expensive considering its only 1.3L

    If XLi had the features of Gli like PowerWindows and ABS
    and Gli had 1.6L Engine then it wuld be utter stupidity to compare it with Honda City

    keep in mind Internationally Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic falls in the same segment

    But engine displacement is not the issue, International City also starts from 1.5L , Honda City in Pakistan is also stripped down a lot, But Corolla Xli is an extreme case , and is Successful only in Pakistan, in any other country it will be a complete failure !

    international Honda City is offered 1.3L to 1.5L
    while Toyota Corolla is 1.6L to 2.4L
