    Default 1998 BMW 318 vs. 2006 2OD Saloon

    Guys,
I'm a new member here at pakwheels. I need some inputs from all you wheel experts since im in a bit of a dilemna here. I just got an '06 2D saloon, which seems to be an alright car, nothing so special about it besides the fact that its new. Now, I have an even trade offer against it for a 1998 BMW 3-Series with 30K on it and the car is in average condition. Think I should go for it? I am confused. Help me out guys.
All sorts of comments are appreciated.
    Thx.

Dude you says its done only 30k, and is in average condition. 30,000 is no mileage for a bmw, so it should be in excellent condition. The meter was probably reversed. Cant say anything for sure unless you post some picturres.

    @acidluv
    Brother personal experience...
BMWs are like addiction if you drive them you will not have any other car in your mind which you like...Sure for that ask any person driving a BMW....
But having said that you should also check the availabilty for spareparts and maintainance...condition mater aswell.....
Post few pics of both the cars then can advice you better...
    Thanx..
    Max...

I own and driven both cars, even the 318 is much older than your new car, it is solid car with even weight distribution.
if the milage is 34K kms then consider it you have 70K more without major mentainance work.
from my experience, change the water pump if you buy this car, cause BMW fitted a water pump with plastic prepellors in this model the new one you should get will be made of alloy propellors, and sorted. nothing else is wrong with this car.

just make sure the mileage is not clocked as it can be done easily by the help of a laptop and a software.

    2. Save money? OD
Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

First of all, I must admit this is one of te most helpful communities around on the web. Couldnt have gotten so many responses in such less time anywhere else. Just wanted to add one more thing. Would any of you guys have a rough idea of the Market Price of this Beamer I have mentioned in the post. It would be an easier decision comparing the prices of the two cars.

As far as performance is concerned, I just drove the car today, and it was a differrent league altogether. It just has some minor scuffs here and there but the motor does indeed seem to match the odometer(30K).

Also, does anybody know a good place to take this car for touch ups. Or it could be done by any body mechanic perhaps...?
Thx oce again guys....you people are doing it...

I bought mine in 2000 and done 40K miles not kms, only had one problem about the water pump recently. thats all. plus yearly general service.
it has never let me down and driving it still an enjoyment.

30K KMs for a 98 does look like its space mileage though.
