Two stories.....A famous famous win for Williams, everyone up and down the pitlap would be happy and the neutrals around the world. A great gift for Frank Williams to celebrate his 70th birthday. A solid drive by Maldonada, kept it together through out the race, which is not something he does often. Pity about the fire, looks really bad and there are some injuries. Hopefully none will be serious.

Second, three races, a second place and two wins, all missed. Thats the story of Lotus and Kimi Raikkonen. Words fail me, sticking to the softer tire for a second stint on both cars, wtf! And it's not like they had to venture into the unknown, Perez had switched to the hard compound and was flying but Lotus decided, for reasons not known to anyone, to stick with the soft tires and that is where the race was lost. At least they got Grosjean out of Raikkonen's way this time around so they are learning. My commiserations to Waqas and Blackeye. Raikkonen would have been leading the world championship now.

Ferrari, a good result given their car, which is not as good as where it finished. Helped by some updates and a few faster cars and drivers making mistakes in qualifying. They are heading in the right direction and hopefully without jinxing them, this championship will sooner or later turn into a battle between three drivers.

Lastly, Luca Badoer, where are you?? Please come back!
Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

ditto .. kimi looks subdued this season and feels oddly satisfied with whatever position he ends up at .. of course he says win could be possible and this and that after race but on track i don't feel he's pushing much. don't know who to blame, team, car, tires, himself, strategy ... i m actually sad to see him finish 3rd. i was hoping for ALO or Kimi's win. neither happened ..

but before anyone labels me as 'racist' i would like to say i m very happy for MAL. good job. i mean i wouldn't have imagined him holding off ALO. i mean honestly speaking nobody was even considering him for win .. thats amazing.

but i m sad for ALO. i feel its the perfect case for tires ruining the absolute race but for some it might be an 'exciting' race.

Good thrilling race. Always good to see a new face winning a GP. Have to say, it was a very good drive by MAL and he deserved to win. It was also great to see Alonso congratulating him like a champion should.

EPL season finished on the same sort of note but there would be some salt rubbing for United fans. Good to see City winning the title. Being a United fan I wasnt as disappointed as I thought I would be. The sheer joy on the faces of fans who had been waiting for this is unparalleled. Same case with MAL, his familly, Sir Frank Williams, the Williams team and also the entire country of Venezuela.

I am not a fan of that Mercedes salesman, but he is spot on about these tires. When you have drivers sit out qualifying, best drivers in the world driving the fastest cars on low fuel load show casing their speed and talent, because they need tires for the race and having to tread so carefully in the race then it's not pure anymore, it's a joke. Makes little difference to me in terms of the driver i support, he is the most versatile and adaptable of them all. As Brundle said today " Ominous to see Alonso as the joint leader in the championship with his uncompetitive car, must send a chill down the spine of the pitlane "

Both Massa and Vettel's penalties were right. Vettel even had his DRS open when he was expected to slow down because of waved yellows.

kimi looks subdued this season and feels oddly satisfied with whatever position he ends up at .. of course he says win could be possible and this and that after race but on track i don't feel he's pushing much. don't know who to blame, team, car, tires, himself, strategy ... i m actually sad to see him finish 3rd.
Buddy, i think Kimi didnt expect to come back and be on the pace right away and to have a competitive car. He isn't one who has ever been accused of being proactive. It's the team, the team needs to take blame for what they have done in three straight races. Williams showed how it's done today, a team that is used to winning races and championships. Took the battle to Ferrari, forced their hand by pitting first during the second round of pitstops, aided by Charles Pic managed to come out ahead and go onto win the race. Lotus is too conservative and then they make the wrong decisions. Raikkonen needs to be guided. He can use this season as a springboard to go to Mercedes next year to replace that salesman.

i feel its the perfect case for tires ruining the absolute race but for some it might be an 'exciting' race.
If this is how it's going to be then f**k this excitement

Please look after your oven, it's very precious for Steve
Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

copy that. spot on. its a joke, truly is. u can't even watch pure race just because drivers have to save rubber what a joke.

u may b right that he wasn't expecting to be so competitive but now he knows. he should push and grab opportunities. then u are also right that we know he doesn't care abt team and car building and stuff, so he needs to push on track thats what i m talking abt. what is he waiting for, saying that he could've won and his chance will come.

I havent seen Raikkonen race before this season and i must say im impressed.
For me there are only two people who can really push their cars when asked too, VET and ALO. Both change into totally different kind of beasts when engineers ask them to push. Today watching Kimi catch ALO in the last few laps, i felt the same change in his driving. His car's body language changed. Pretty cool, i think.
Every time someone refers to Honda Civic as 'reborn', a puppy dies! Oh and I hate increasing my post count.

he was catching ALO because he had 'new tires' and ALO had used up his chasing MAL. plus ALO complained that car was suddenly very slow and somewhat uncontrollable.

"Then in the very last laps I felt the car was strange, we lost a lot of grip. Maybe we lost some aerodynamic part or something because we were very slow… (inaudible) …we were lucky at the end."

hmm, u haven't seen old Kimi. this Kimi is very friendly by his standards. and i feel he's holding off unleashing his pure driving skills. may be F1 and cars have changed. and he's still coming to terms with this.

Williams working to determine cause of fire, FIA says 31 people treated in total
The Williams team is working with the fire services and the police to determine the root cause of the fire that broke out after the Spanish Grand Prix.

    @UK and m_waqas
Why are you guys not understanding that this is how the tyres supposed to work, it is funny that the best driver on the grid fall to a mind game from a driver who was leading the GP first time in his career. I was quite sure that Alonso will win this race after the last pitstop as he started to cut down the gap quite fast but as soon as he was in the DRS zone of Maldonado, he start losing time. Maldonado on the other hand has done a seriously superb job by keeping his cool and wait for the right moment and then start building the gap.

Looks like for you guys, it is only good when the best driver wins the race but it is bad when some one else wins it by pure intelligence and hard work. Also, we will have a problem if HRT or Marussia wins a race because the difference between those teams with the other grid is quite big until then all the teams that have win the race or will win in the future in this season are doing it on genuine pace.

You can't say that Williams didnot have the pace this race or Mercedes don't have the pace in China or Alonso don't have the pace in Malaysia. All these teams have genuine pace in that specific GPs. Only McLaren and RedBull are the 2 teams which have the outright pace in all the GPs and the only reason they have not won more is because of their own mistakes. McLaren for their pitstop blunders and RedBull in because of bad strategy call.

UK, how could only 2 drivers were penalised for an infraction when the race saw drivers driving in groups. Vettel has DRS open in a non-Yellow Flag zone and he was penalised for putting a faster sector time on that lap. even though it is not necessary that he was fast on that very spot.

I have a question even the best and fastest car can't overcome the amount of time lost in the pits like Vettel did with his 4 stops including the penalty and a nose change, against a driver who has done 3 stops like Button and Rosberg. Hamilton is a different case as he has only done 2 stops so he was always going to be a easy target to overtake because his tyre grip lost was bigger then the other 2 drivers. How did he do that???
