    Default diesel fuel consumption

my 95 MY 3000cc mercedes benz diesel has returned me 1104 kms in 71 litres of diesel fuel.

diesel fuel is still the cheapest mode of transport, and yet I meet people that say, diesel is expensive - pffft

yes, mercedes benz had the old iron 3.0l 5 cyl OM617 in both NA and turbo forms, it was used in the 300D W123 and some 126 sedans and some other machines too.

Then they had the OM602 2.5L 5cyl in both NA and turbo, it was iron block alu head, used in the 250D 124 sedans, then was the OM605 which was DOHC NA 20V 5cyl used the later E250D W124 chassis. This engine also was used in the 202 and 210 chassis and some vans too. The 60x are fanstastic engines.

A properly tuned and adjusted diesel charade can give more than 25 km/lit, I have done it once. But it requires the engine to be 100% perfect. Not ustaadified.

USA has got the world's most shittiest diesel quality, we need to add oil or use fuel stabilisers to keep it in usable condition. The filters clog up, there is too much water sometimes which needs regular sedimenter draining, during my run I had to suck out some water from the tank bottom. it was about 2 litres of it.

the toyota 2C is not economical, its an agricultural engine at best. A better engine is the nissan CD20 in economy. It returns about 15 to 18 km/lit on mixed run and is pretty compact and smooth too - and it is a known fact that nissan engines wear like an anvil.

Diesel engines are most efficient internal combustion engine due to low engine speed, high compression ratio and compression ignition.

My Indus 2.0D model 2001 gives 16 km per litre in mixed (long +short)driving without AC after now that it is 11 years old. I have calculated it many times. In the past I owned a Nissan Sunny with diesel engine CD-17 and it was very astonishing for me that it gave me nearly 22km per litre on the average. diesel is still cheaper than petrol in my thinking. But 2.0D indus is discontinued by Toyota. I dont know why is this step taken.
