Currently I am driving avalon 2003. As far as I know this car is not sold in europe, as it is totally desinged and manufactured in toyota facility in US. It is a good car but it lacks the sporty look. Nissan Maxima seems to have some edge in this higher end sedan market

The reason it cannot be imported to Pak coz its non-availability in RHD and it is made for the LHD market.

i dont think there was a cressida in NA ever....

the new redesigned avalon is 20% cheaper than the last model and 100% better looking. The only down side....is that at this price...you are into Mercedes and BMW territory.
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it..and so restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions.

The Avalon is available in Right Hand Drive. In Japan, it is called the Pronard. and in Australia, is still called the Avalon BTW, this car was never a replacement for the Cressida. The Cressida was essentially the Toyota Mark 2, which was later replaced by the Mark X. The Cressida saw declining sales in the US in the late 80's and early 90's. The Camry was introduced at the same time in the US. It was about the same size as the Cressida and was a less expensive alternative, hence it started to sell really well. Eventually, when the time came to introduce a newer model of the Camry and the Cressida, Toyota saw that the Camry was a big seller as compared to the Cressida. They decided to not import the Cressida but to 'invest' in the Camry.

If you go forward a few years, Toyota saw that there was a market for a larger car than the Camry, the Avalon is an extension made to compete with the Buick, Chrysler and other larger American cars in the US and Holden, and Fords in Australia. Since the Avalon is mainly for the American and Australian market, it does compete very well in it's vehicle size of the market.
