    I agree with you 100%..

    Don't feel depressed brother, there has been on again and off again discussion, here once in a while.... and if you search the forum, and type "tractors" in the search you would many pages

    I just did that, and found 4 pages, related to tractors, buses, trucks, etc.....

    Datzburier had started a good discussion, a while ago about Pakistan's tractor industry...

    Shergill from India also started a topic on Indian tractors.. and you can see some good interest in it, there are some Pakistani tractor in it as well...

    here check it out...

    i'm a bit of a farmer, we (my family) have 4 massey ferguson 265's in KHI on our lands and one 240 here in ISB (it's being rented). It's amazing how little people think about these items here specially when it come to repairs and spare parts.

    Plus i drive a defender,... DAMN i really am a farmer!!

    Sammy bhai....

    So, this post is turning out to be a secrect confessional.

    LoL

    My grand-parents had farms, they have passed away, and everyone else has moved to cities. I used to visit the farms when I was young and grand parents were alive. I Remember the Red Massey Ferguson's (MILLAT) tractor, the Threshers, etc. So, I also have a little Farmer in me.....

    Yeah, the tractors should be discussed. I had started a thread earlier, but not many people were interested.

    Shergill, started another thread and was quiet good. I posted about the Pakistani tractor industry and the pictures of various agricultural implements made in Pakistan by Millat tractors...

    MAN The in Tractors there is somethin that Differs From Cars.......
    In Tractors they face off the limit REALLY OFF THE LIMIT Time and soo there parts can wear even when its even new SO my point is that Availability of PARTS is For Sure For Such case OTHERWISE NO PARTS MEANS=TRACTOR IN JUNKYARD

    IN PAKISTAN ONLY THREE OF THE ABOVE GIVEN TRACTORS ARE THE BEST in ALL CONDITIONS (I mean Soil Conditions "sandy,Hard Or Rocky Soils")

    @khandada
    i'm not going to act like i know alot about the 265's or the 240 i just remembered the names because i played a joke on a friend (i told him my dad just bought some "vehicles" with the codes 265 and 240 and they thought that he'd bought a few ferraris. All i know is that the 265's are supposed to be really good (and newer than the 240). but they are part of the deal to the guy buying our KHI lands. the 240 is about the same size as a "normal" tractor,... and can't pull out a defender when it sinks (i called for it when i got stuck in rawal dam but the opperator said it wasn't powerful enough)

    @datz
    I never understood why people didn't buy belarus tractors,... must be a brand image thing. all i know is those buggers have alot of power (yanked my defender out of a hole like it was plucking a hair).

    yes yes i know tractors are farming equipment and shouldn't be measured in how well they can pull a defender out of mud,.. LOL!!

    In class XI ( way back in 1987-88 ) there was a lesson in my English CS " POMEGRANTE TREE " which revolved around a Farmer in Texas. My English Teacher, who hailed from some City was stunned to find my answer when she laughed at a sentence " It was a beautiful John deere ". She was looking for a starical statement in the sentence and asked us if a Tractor could be termed " Beautiful ".

    Everybody laughed and agreed with the Teacher except for me. As I belong to Jat farmers clan, I know what beauty the American Farmer was talking about his Tractor. My Teacher realised her mistake when she was apprised that here in Punjab Ford 3610 is considered the most beautiful of all the Tractors.

    For me even now, I find the beauty in these Agri machines from the character they portray from their body cover designs. the style of front grille, bonnet assy, head lights, Instrumentation and above all the Fenders.

    While the Farmers in the Europe and the U.S. prefer a round small fender over the rear wheels Subcontinental farmers prefer full Mudguards which are more comfortable using these as seats for the co passengers or as racks for keeping UREA bags/ seed bags etc.

    For the last 15 years Indian Tractor Industry has grown leaps and bounds and there are around 15 major players producing world class Tractors and exporting aroung 1 lakh tractors all over the world including the U.S.Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Iran, Egypt,Turkey, South Africa and all over African Continent and Latin american countries.

    India produced arond 7 lakh tractors last year. Except for John Deere, Ford New Holland all others players have indegenious Technology or improved upon the technology they sourced in 1960-70s.

    Mahindra, Sonalika, Escorts, Farm Trac, TAFE ( Massey Ferguson ), HMT Indo farm, Standard Tractors, VST Tillers, Preet Tractors, Eicher Good earth, PowerTrack, Hindustan Tractors are some of the Tractor companies producing Tractors anything between 30000 - 90000 tractor annually.

    i saw these tractors(in red colour) in kissan mella in lahore with out the cabin.......... they are being marketed by dewann group of companies. they say they are going to manufacture it...

    @strom and khandada
    sir i do get ur point of having parts available but still they are black mailing for their name and MF is giving me tractors of inferior spec charging about 50 000 more....... there are certain risk for going new brands but that what i asked has any body tried

    yes if parts are not vailable then its calling for trouble but dewan ppl told me that they are going to manufacture this tractor in pakistan in lessbaila balochistan...............

    plzzzz do let me know about one thing this hydrolic powersteering stuff does it really help in comparison with manual steering........ cause fiat ghzai is being offered with power steering while mf 240 is not both having approx same price

    @SARS

    Indeed power steering helps a lot to ease out the steering problems of Tractors in 35-50 hp range. Tractors above 50 hp range need to adorn a Power steering as a standard fitment as in the case of all the Tractors in India.

    Power steering is generally required when the front portion is bit too heavy as in some tractors the engine is slightly positioned towards the front side making the front tyres feel the burden and thus making steering a serious problem.

    Massey Tractors are known for best steerings ( manual ) I do not know what type of quality they are offering in Pakistan but the Indian arm TAFE making these tractors ranging from 30 hp to 75 hp is best known for the quality aspect and their tractors are considered one of the best bargains available in India.

    Also, in loose soil type of fields power steering helps a lot.

    Here we have many after market attachments for Power steering, 4X4 and AC cabin needs for the Tractors. One can get his Tractor fitted with a 4X4 live front axle, Power steering or get an AC cabin fitted from many firms offering such attachments.

    ZF power steering attachment is considered best here, while careera front axles are considered good for 4X4 options. And BEHR, Sendan AC compressors and condesors are used for AC needs. Some small time workshops make AC cabins utilising used AC kits of Maruti 800 or Indica cars for these Tractors.
    Upwards Onwards, when the going gets tough the Tough gets going.

    We could agree on a point that the quality of automobile components produced in India has improved a lot and most of the major auto component producers in India are also exporting high tech component to Europe, the U.S., Korea, Brazil and South Africa. It wont be a surprise to find any Toyota with and Indian made transmission ( gear box ).

    Almost all the major auto component mfrs of the world like Delphi, Denso, Bosch, Lears and so many others have already set their plants here in India. All the local Auto compo makers like TVS, Mico, Rane, Escorts, Minda, Lumax, Fiem, Mahle, Goetz, Usha, Gabriel, Munjal shova, KBX, Autopal, Pricol, Rainbow and a long exhausting list of other makers boast of world class manufacturing plants with matching R& D departments to cater to the changing needs of autombile makers. Aslo they have constant ties for technical inputs for the new technologies and altogether new products. Like some of these have tied up for German/Japnnese/korean and US.. firms for making Air bags, EBS, ECUs, Fuel injection systems, Micro processors, Anti locking brake devices etc for the production of these high tech systems in India for thenew gen cars and also for exporting back to the Parent company.

    Delphi and Bosch have set classic examples by investing huge money into auto component manufacturing in India and then exporting the goods back to th U.S. and Europe.

    Infact, all the State Govts in India have vying hard to sell their Special economic zones to such companies granting huge tax concessions, uninturrupted power supply at cheap rates. Recently four states, Including Punjab, Himachal, Uttranchal and West Bengal fought a fierce battle to lure TATAs to set up the Small car project in their respective states. W. Bengal got this maga project which would employ around 10,000 people directly. While Punjab got consolation for an assembly plant of the TATA for its present cars. Also it got Volksvagon plant which would be ready by the end of 2007.

    It is estimated that by the end of 2010 almost all the Car makers of World will be having manufacturing plants in India. Last around 9 lakh cars were sold in India and the figures is poised to grow 16 lakh cars by 2010 ( lower estimates ).

    Indian auto companies have already been found favour in many a products for the international market. Like, Almunium Radiators, Diesel fuel pumps(Mico,Bosch & TVS), Fuel injection systems(UCAL/TVS & Bosch), Disc brake systems(KBX & TVS), Instrument panel gauges(Pricol, Raibow) Wiper assys(Syndicate), Tyres, wheel rims(WIL), drive axles,Steering columns(Sona & Mahindra) Ball and roller bearings(SKF/TATA Timkin/NGF/NBC) and now a days with complete Gear boxes including automatic transmissions (Toyota /Allison) . Foundry and Forged items like engine blocks, gearbox housings, are also exported in large quantities (DCM )

    Due to stiff competition and lower duty rates on locally made components and automobiles the prices are far below the international rates. Also due to very high duty structure on imported components the resale value of imported cars as well as those produced under CKD or SKD arrangements, is far lower than Indian Cars. As spares replacement cars with Indian cars is a much easiar, cheap and better option rather with the imported cars. One could imagine that a thermostat switch of a TATA indica car or Mahindra SUV costs only Rs. 190/- whereas you need to pay around 2000/- for the same part if it belongs to a Skoda, Mitshubishi etc.

    Hence, even all the foriegn car makers in India are stressing very hard on local made parts to make their cars stand in competition.

    As far as the Tractor Industry is concerned, It has already reached a saturation level technically and sales wise. All the Tractor companies are eyeing foriegn markets as domestic sales have already reached its zenith level in the present circumstances.
