    why were they eyeing on earning big profits at first place. anyhow good move though somewhat late.

    cant we have a regulatory authority which'd give acceptable price tags to local manufactured vehicles to satisfy both consumers and manufacturers. by that i dont mean a govt. inst. but something these manufac. set up among themselves. some innocent thoughts

    on the contrary, they do have an unspoken word of understanding by which they manipulate market shares and prices

    @ robin

    i think they were using the phsycological pricing method ..... by making it very expensive, they made the public think that it was better than the other cars in its class, thus increasing its demand. but in reality this car is **** and its performance is still **** compared to civic's.

    plus even the basic version comes with driver SRS airbag...(as per website)..and you also get CNG

    people say it lacks performance as compared to Civic..

    .well i would say people who will be buying this machine wont be buying fro drag racing.... its classy.. and its elegant.. and its strong... and its chevy... its a very decent car.. its 107 hp/6000rpm and 150 nm @ 4000 is cool.. and there is ff cng so it will be economical...

    you get
    keyless entry,
    Audio Security Warning Theft Deterrent Systempower side mirrors,
    4 wheel disc,
    tinted/laminated front windscreen,
    cassete/radio and cd player
    Rear Lamp (See-Through)
    a fuel tank of 60 liters.

    a lot of goodies.. i just hope nuthing has been cut down from the list...
    Do the environment a favour, Use less airconditioning .. and please walk to the shop to get a pack of cigarretes..its only a 3 min walk..

    I will consider it a case for "value pricing" and overall resegmentation.

    Civic is also a good case for "price skimming" and resegmentation.

    What you Pakwheelers think, which is the best:
    1) Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 GLX at Rs.999,000/- (Add Rs.20,000 only for S/R)
    Or
    2) Chevrolet Optra 1.6 (CNG) at Rs.1,049,000/-

    Considering that Mitsubishi is a Japanese Car (Brand and Assembling)

    Let me share some info here. Optra was originally built as a 1.8 car. But to cater for the Pakistani and Indian market, they have now introduced it in 1.6. So obviously it is a heavier, stronger car then Lancer. And ofcourse more luxurios too. By the way, overall look is better than Lancer too. Lancer has only one point over Optra, that it is japan assembled.

    I think everyone is benefitting from the new civic prices,.. everyone is offereing better prices and warrantys now. good to see the customer getting something back.

    If people don't buy the civic, expect to see a HUGE reduction in prices for it.

    Converting the Lancer 1.6 GLX to CNG will still be cheaper than Optra CNG.

    @zahoorasif but that would also make warrenty void which is also risky in case of lancer as already resale value is too low

    though i'm a huge lancer fan & supporter i'll have to agree that factory fit is factory fit (even though it's done locally). and in this market segment warrantys are important.

    Those who have purchased Optra early they have the korean assumbled version as compared to the recent version, being assumbled at Nissan Gandhara plant. I also bough Nissan Sunny, 2005 in May, 2005. Now Nissan Gandhara didnt reduce the price for Sunny but instead they have installed CD palyer locally and offering Toshiba laptop with the new sunny. As for me i got nothing but enjoying the ride.

    This is a wonderful news. We can now see the results of competition. Toyota would never give 2yrs warranty if there were no compeitition. Anyhow Its good to see that after Mitsubishi, Chevrolet Pakistan has reduced prices for its both cars with additional feature which is FF CNG (a big relief).

    @drmaqeel
    Its Chevrolet Joy which is being assembled in Nissan Gandhara Plant not Chevrolet Optra. Chevrolet Optra is still being imported from S.Korea and CNG will be installed here by dealers or might be at Gandhara Plant by importers which will be backed up by full warranty.
    Nice to know about yoru ride. Do share your views about new sunny.

    @drmaqeel
    Well sir I might have some out-dated information. I know that they'd plans of assembling Optra locally like Joy but never knew that it had started already. Anyhow I'd look more into details.
    Thanx for updating my information.
