Default Is Factory fitted HID illegal?

    Assalam o Alaikum

So today i was stopped by motorway police because my Premio has OEM D4R Hid with dampener ( doesn't bother oncoming traffic) & i was told its illegal to use it.
I told them that these come with JDM but i was told it's illegal, given warning for next time.
I had D2S Hid OEM in my previous vitz & wasn't stopped anywhere in lahore/islamabad/sialkot etc.
Is it illegal to use these OEM lights?
Can anyone elaborate the law regarding this, i mean for jdm cars?

And i need suggestions how to solve this issue, i was thinking of putting yellow tint on headlights

    Default Legality...

As far as I know, Pakistan traffic penal code is very old and sketchy. No mention of HIDs or tinted glass in it. Local orders are issued to ban such stuff.

HID lights were installed in reflector headlights in the past by manufacturers eg. Honda Accord 2003~2007 model. They were in the low beams and did not cause any glare. So the Premio might have a similar arrangement.

HIDs are not only for projector lamps, old W140, R129, W210 etc chassis mercedes benz had an option of "xenon" headlamps when buying the car, it was mighty pricey and had a very strange looking headlamp glass, it was still the patterned glass but had very odd markings, it also sported this middle reflector. The headlamp cut off and flick up was perfect on them - more sharp than the regular halogen bulbs.

If you somehow (as in "in your dreams") stuck a halogen bulb in there the light pattern was like a ball of light good for seeing stuff 1 ft ahead of the car.

If you buy a regular halogen bulb, except H1 types - you may notice that most come with a dark center piece - this is actually reflective inside and bounces light back to the reflector where it is

1 - guided into the clear glass with correct cut
2 - guides straight into the glass and will be trimmed by the glass itself.

If they are original - you could have popped the bonnet and showed them the headlamp bulb mount and the ballast mount. If its original no other bulb would fit or work for that matter.

the highway manual in pakistan say its illegal to use headlights that blind others or causes disruption to on coming traffic.

so its upto the individual officer interpretation and your luck in that situation.
If everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane!

the really sad part is that the highway code and all its attached penal laws do not give a headlamp height or light scatter pattern. It almost looks like it was written in the 1920s. You may notice it also claims for vehicles to have "a" brake lamp. - Meaning your vehicle can have only one brake lamp and all is fine n dandy.

Using the same law - I can install 500 headlamps on the top of my bus to illuminate the road - I would just need to make sure its not aimed at other car windshields.

They should have installed proper projectors in this car or halogen projectors like we get in PKDM civic.

    Default Sad..

Feel sad that you are forced to undergo such desperate measures all due to authority figures who have low levels of knowledge.

Instead of bothering law abiding citizens I wonder why they don't challan trucks & buses without tail lights, rashly driven vans, deadly donkey carts and so on. So many legitimate targets yet they waste time on things they have no clue about.

So we're coming back from a picnic 3 cars,
    Nissan petrol
    Lexus/harrier
    My vitz

The harrier escaped, Nissan petrol and my vitz were stopped on the liyari expressway.

The guy asked me to side my car, license, and then asked me challan hoga lights ke upper. I got out of the car while arguing I managed to convince him these are factory fitted Japanese lights and can't be changed. He said those are xenon lights these are hids bla bla I told him to come with me and see all Japanese cars and then decide. Anyways he had nothing to say, in the end called his senior he asked him if the license was valid and then returned it to me.

Till then Nissan petrol was already finned for rs.1000

I told that guy their is no law for the ban of these lights and he said bilkul hai, I told him to show me and he said ap high court mei challenge kerlein.

On the other hand the LED lights these new police corolla cars have are more disturbing then hid on the on coming traffic.

Further more what's dangerous is the unaligned beams of Suzuki carrys, trucks that hit strait in to your eyes despite being halogens.
