Default Faw V2 - Parts and resale? Is its future like Cheverlot?

    Dear PW members,

I am interested to change my alto 2006.
Interested in new car, and currently there are only two options Wagon R and Faw-V2

Please suggest which is better option. Faw V2 is giving more features but i am not sure about its parts availability, cost and most importantly would it be again mishap like cheverlot? Cheverlot was also a good car but Pakistanis rejected it against suzuki

Bro no one can predict future but I guess romance of pak business elites with Chinese will continue. But lil risk is always there. However, if you can find good jdm or pkdm in this price tag then what s need of taking any risk?

As Xulfiqar sir always say "Pakistan mai Sab ko biwi chaiyei super model per uska nakhra nahi chayei" every one wants a car which can be maintained with scrayard parts because new expensen hai

Infact now car has become necessity of life (Specifically when we talk about <1000 cc cars they are purely for daily use be normal people like me). However if we go for higher than 1300cc then i think its luxury/hobby etc.

So, one can buy the car within a budget of 1 million but after that higher maintenance/driving cost put load on pocket. Therefore, availability of parts becomes a major issue (price varies as per DEMAND and SUPPLY).

Although mehran has cheapest parts but its really very expensive compared to the features in it.
I like FAW V2 very much but i dont want to put my money on risk. Afraid of the story of Chevrolet Joy. Finally i am thinking to go for Wagon R the ugly solution of my ride...... Going to book it to avoid the extra price...

Is it a hobby or necessity to get a > 1300cc car if one has 4-5 children? What about someone whose job requires that s/he be on the move continuously since better amenities only come in 1800cc+ cars here? It is all not as black and white as one might think. If getting from point A to Point B with discomfort is the objective, one could buy a Chingchi and declare anything above 125cc to be luxury/hobby.

Car has indeed become a necessity due to inadequate and unreliable public transport system.

So, one can buy the car within a budget of 1 million but after that higher maintenance/driving cost put load on pocket. Therefore, availability of parts becomes a major issue (price varies as per DEMAND and SUPPLY).
Unfortunately, we tend to only look at the upfront purchase cost of the car rather than the lifecycle cost which includes maintenance expenses after the initial purchase. Properly kept, a car could cost more than the initial purchase price over its serviceable life barring any accidents resulting in write-off.

Xulfiqar nailed it with that quote. People looking to live beyond their means is what really gets them in trouble. Jitni chaadar hai, utnay hi paon phelaanay chahiyen. Expensive car's maintenance is also expensive but people here don't think that when buying car and then run after jugaars from street side mechanics and further screwing up the car in the process.

If you are buying a car for 1 million out of necessity, you are rich. Pakistan new prices are so high, anyone who needs a car as a necessity buys an old one.

For your 'necessity' ... anywhere from 3-6 lakh can get you a decent car as per your requirement that you can use daily without much trouble. It wont be as reliable as new car, but you cant be chosy on a budget. Local new cars, or used JDMs are not exactly super reliable anyway.
