Default Economical car for rough roads + less workshop visits (100km daily travel)

    Dear experts
I have been reading pakwheels forums, it is actually a great help for cars buyers.

I live in remote arean with my parents and do job in city so I have to travel 100km daily (50km per side) in which there is 10km of the rural area i. e kacha/soling and rest of the 80km is road but not in very good condition. In other words I travel 40% on rough roads.

I have a mehran 2000 model but I have to take it to workshop after every two weeks, that is hectic. Probably its not built for such traveling or its too old.

So I am thinking to buy another car that can run on these roads with less visits to workshops and should be fuel economy.

After visiting forums and reading posts I have got these options, please add your suggestions as well.

    1. Cultus
    2. Coure
    3. Chevrolet joy
    4. Chevrolet exclusive
    5. Vitz

Add your opinion as experts know better than me.

I seek experts opinion here for which car I should go with. Please keep in mind these few factors.
    1. Fuel efficiency (top priority)
    2. Low and easily available maintenance
    3. Good to run in these roads, ground clearance must be good.

I need your help, please write your suggestions and experience.

    Thanks alot.

For rough roads only one brand bear the harshness i.e. Toyota, so whichever Toyota suits in your budget, go for it.

Vitz is auto and I dont think its economical.

You may opt for Se saloon 1600cc manual 2003-2006 model.

Rest gurus will guide you for the best.

Why don't use you sell your 15 years old Mehran for a new Euro II mehran? It will give you great fuel economy, cheapest maintenance and even can be repaired in a rural workshop plus it is sturdy for first 5 years.

I have heard 2.0d is very good on roads but don't you think it will create frequent problems of suspension on bumpy and non paved roads as engine weight is more than petrol engine?

Get pkdm Wagon R, it is good on rough roads, 15 +km/l in city average with ac, space, ac and engine power, less cabin noise everything is impressive. Only drawback of WR is body roll but this car is very stable worth its price. Its a pkdm model so maintenance is easy plus this car is not that fragile, you open its bonnet or sit inside you will notice that quality is better than cultus or mehran, its quality is equivalent to swift.

Corolla's suspension system is well-known for reliability and durability. It's body and suspension are made considering its engine weight. However, the engine technology is pretty much older and you need to find a wise mechanic, too.

How is the ground clearance compared to Cultus?

That's nice. My boss had a Japanese Wagon R and it used to touch every speed breaker.

Guys I went for chevrolet joy. It was really a great car to have, all luxury features, comfortable seats, chill ac, power things, and driving pleasure. I sold it out because I needed money. Purchased it two years ago before selling in 550000 and sold it in 440000.
My experience was very good with that car, it had fuel average of 15 to 16 km on highway and 11 - 12 in city with ac. Ac and comfortable seats makes it a great car. I have traveled on that car from Lahore to Islamabad many times and never felt tired. Once I had a trip of Neelam velly on that car with 4 passengers and had "no issue".

That was all about how good is that car, now come to the dark part.

This car is very low so it must hit every speed breaker or even if there is a little deep pit where other cars should not even touch it. So ground clearance is very poor, but it produces amazing experience on carpeted roads, on motorway I have driven this car at 145 -165km/hr and it was in total control.

Second more annoying thing is its shocks, if you run car in bumpy areas chances are you need to replace shock every 8-10 months
Third one in dark side is very few mechanics are available

Spare parts can be easily imported from the Karachi by call and online transfer in cheaper rates as compared to your local dealer.
