Question Aftermarket Engine Lock / Immobilizer

Has anyone used the after market immobilizers / locks ? Sehgal Motors has one up for sale

Steelmate Engine Immobilizer System - Sehgal Motors
    Steelmate Co., Ltd

    1. Is this any good or is this just a dumb system that can be easily bypassed and provides no security.
    2. I am thinking about installing one in my City 16. City already has the central locking but no security system. Is it worth the money for the additional security it provides if any ?

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

Well that's the main question. I don't know how this system actually works and how robust it is. There are no details on the manufacturers website as well. Technically every system is beatable but some security is better than no security I guess.

In my experience I've come to realise that installing any kind of security system is not a complete guarantee that your car is now a 100% safe.

If it's electronic it will very likely be easily overrided one way or the other and as we know most of the car these days are more tech savvy than earlier versions and this trend will only continue making our cars more vulnerable.

These systems , whatever kind they may be at most are a delay mechanism or slight deterrents in case the worse happens Khudanakhwasta.

well on Aliexpress i saw one Immobilizer and that was awesome, its just a starting relay which u need to replace with ur actual starting reply (in relay box) and it automatically activates and de-activites depends upon distance of 3m if ur far from 3m it will activates itself. it was awesome no installation was required. and asking for $48. but i wonder if custom CHORS will allow it to import or not

It cannot serve the purpose of Factory Fitted Immobilizer, as it can be bypassed easily.

    - but yes, if you install it professionally, and not under the dashboard and somewhere else, then one need some time to find the wiring to start the car.

    - according to the steelmate website, it says that it gives alarm in case of illegal ignition. So it will just add some security, but Answer to your main question is That It Can Be Easily Bypassed.

I have also seen this Relay Immobilizer, its a Better option, but not all modern cars have this type of Ignition relay, so we may need to cut wires and replace the base holder of ignition relay too.

Guys I just wanna say that the New Auto policy says that immobilizer is must for every car but it is not yet implemented.

Why are we not doing anything about it?

it's really sad state of affairs that you buy a car worth 1.6M without basic amenities like immobilizer and airbags. Let's hope new auto policy forces the manufacturers to do something.
