Default Toyota Hiace WHY SO POWERFUL ???

Has anyone seen Toyota Hiace's power on Pakistani roads with a lot of passangers in it and even after 24/7 working. Faster than even Land Cruisers & Pajeros. Amazing !!!

hiace is fast by definitions of pakistan. why not a mazda or a nissan van runs like that even with same engine capacity? they are also rear wheel drive diesel work horses. about sportage, someone who has actualy driven one should agree with me that it can give tough time to these overrated sedans in first three gears. done that myself a few times.

Hiace Vans. Well friends its actually the driver sitting inside who is gearing perfectly to extract the maximum power out of that engine, and not letting the motion break no matter what. Now you will ask why would anyone roger his ride all the time as it would shorten its life? well this is due to the economics, I,ll explain, these drivers are not sallaried, the have to pay the owner of the van Rs 1000 everyday and whatever they earn more than that is their profit, so they roger these rides like hell to reach to the next stop to pick the passengers. this information is based on a research done by me by interviewing a pro driver of hiace van driving it daily in Rawalpindi route named Miraj Gul.
To all the extreme drivers, please come offroad like ME to keep others safe on the roads.

    @drbilalqamar
i have travelled and seen HIACES plying through the southern ranges of balochistan top up with men and sacks of flour very easily where even 4/4 drivers stop and think b4 going.there is no doubt that its the man behind the gun who matters not the gun similarly its the driver who matters but never to forget that the hiace is the most pwerful beast in its class.
those who dont believe must give it a try where i did.

8 full trips on route number 1 gives enough revenue to meet expenses and retain handsome profit. a friend was a college dropout due to financial reasons but now if owns a dozen vans on various routes. one is driven by himself. if has tested all brands and hiace is clear winner in speed. mazda has better space. nissan and mitsubishi has mixed everything.
hyundai grace is very gutsy but space is ?

Everyone is talking about the power of cars in comparison with Toyota Hiace, No one has thought that in a car like Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sunny etc etc. maximum passanger capacity is 5, whereas on Hiace there is a COMPLETE FULL HOUSE comprising of almost 17-25 passangers + a very very HUGE LUGGAGE on its roof top. In normal cars one can feel very easily the lack of power when there r even 5 passangers inside.

We were planning to buy the 2006 Hiace but the dealership said the waiting time is three months as all of bookings have been made...

So we went for for 2007 Nissan Urvan....Which is equally good....

These vans aint fast......but the torque is sweet...one feels as if the ground wud peel off if we floor it

The Hiace is Faster then the Urvan coz Hiace has the 2.7L engine compared to 2.4 of the Urvan

    Repowered Toyota Hiace Turbo Diesel

    More power and torque

Toyota has re-powered its HiAce Turbo-diesel range with a 3.0-litre intercooler-equipped high-pressure direct-injection engine. The Toyota 1KD-FTV engine has 26Nm more torque at lower engine revolutions than the 2.5-litre Turbo-diesel engine it supersedes in all HiAce Turbo-diesel models. It will be fitted to all HiAce Turbo-diesel models from October 2006 production.

The 3.0-litre engine has 5kW more power than the non-intercooled engine it supersedes in HiAce LWB Turbo-diesel models. The Toyota 1KD-FTV engine delivers 80kW of power at 3000rpm and 286Nm of torque from 1200 to 1600rpm. It meets Euro IV emission requirements and has already been proved in Australia in Toyota HiLux.
Toyota HiAce turbo-diesel recommended retail pricing starts from $34,940 RRP* for the LWB van. Petrol model pricing begins at $32,240

RRP* for the 2.7-litre LWB van.
HiAce Turbo-diesel's 1KD-FTV engine is matched to a larger-diameter clutch in manual transmission models.

It can also be matched to the electronically controlled Toyota A343E transmission in automatic models. The introduction of the 1KD-FTV engine is part of a broad technical upgrade to the Toyota HiAce range of vans and commuter buses from October 2006 production. Improvements also include Euro IV emissions compliance for the VVT-i equipped 2.7-litre 2TR-FE petrol engine.

In addition, upgraded HiAce has a range of new security, comfort and convenience features. All HiAce models now have an engine immobiliser and illuminated ignition key lock. Interior upgrades include the adoption of front passenger seat recline adjustment on all van models. HiAce Commuter bus models adopt front passenger seat slide adjustment and a centre console from October production. Front mud flaps, a rear under-mirror and fabric and vinyl-covered sun visors are now standard equipment across the HiAce range.

very nice topic agree with it

    @Spectra

I agree with you on Sportage my Dad had it in Pakistan i drove it for 3 years it was awesome......
It was lot better then the 2.0Ds in in many ways i have driven it to the extent but it never said nOOOO....

But said thing is when we sold it it only went for 10.35Lacs

6lacs were lost in just 3 years............

Only bad thing about it is that its suspension is a bit jumpy they should have improved it in many ways.......

BTW new sportage is out any reviews on it........

    Max......
Comments on how am i behaving please call 0800-9211420 and eat ****!

    interesting topic...

almost ne version of hiace is faster than the older 3 door pajero...

i myself have a 1.8 liter diesel peaugeot 205... which is faster than almost all versions of the hiace.. (used in public transport in pakistan)

pajero older shape.. 3 door or 5 door are no match for the hiace...

sportage is very good indeed..but cant beat a vti on petrol... i have beaten many sportage myself..n i dont race a petrol vti..

talking abt pakistan.. most cars are underpowered or run on cng.. so diesel rocks.... except older jeeps like pajero etc...

comming to the basic question... "Toyota hiace why so powerful..." because its a good diesel engine... and these public transporters get a new engine every two years...
Do the environment a favour, Use less airconditioning .. and please walk to the shop to get a pack of cigarretes..its only a 3 min walk..

most hiace here are old ones and the new ones imported are usually degraded by removing 1kz or 1kd engine in favour of 50K rs cheaper 3L or 3C carbourator wala simpler for mechanics and easy cheaper to maintain engine.

did you say carburretor wala diesel engine... i never heard of anything such as carburrator in a diesel engine....did u mean mechanical diesel injection??

can ne one clarify.... carburrator is suposed to be used where fuel and air are to be mixed before entering the cylinder...as in case of petrol ,cng,lpg....

not in diesels..they work different... diesel enters solely after air is already compressed to very high temp...
