Yeah, but both the Honda guys aren't this bad. You are right, Button lacks aggression and he is a too conservative driver. But, he too deserves a better car to prove himself. Who knows where Hamilton might have been had he been driving a Honda.

Exactly ma point.. Lewis is been too lucky to have a championship winning car in his first season.. And as coulthard once said.. by best season was my first season as i was very free in every term..

Button definately needs a good car..

Well you can say that, in a sense as till last season their were two tyre companies, Michellin and Bridgestone.. Bridgestones were used by ferrari and toyota only.

But in 2006 after italian gran prix(i guess) the michellin Boss died. So the company shares get low and blah blahhh they got on the low side..

And bridgestone take the advantage and done a deal with FIA to be the only Tyre Supplier of the whole Formula One Season.

And one more interesting rule introduced this year..

    About the tyres:-

That every car has to used both soft compound tyres and hard compound tyres atleast once in the Race and Qualifying Session.

Lewis Hamilton sets the early pace
    British GP - First practice
    06/07/07 12:44

In overcast, windy but dry conditions this morning at Silverstone, Lewis Hamilton set the pace in his McLaren Mercedes with a best lap of 1:21.100s, just over a tenth clear of his nearest rival.

While Hamilton-mania grips the British circuit, it was a routine morning for the man at the centre of all of the attention, with just one tricky moment as he spun exiting Farm mid-session.

Ferrari are expected to hold the advantage as the weekend goes on, but this morning at least Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa found themselves a tenth and two-tenths respectively behind the championship leader.

It was notable however that the Ferrari team did not feel the need to try a run on the softer tyre late in the session and both drivers were able to set quick laps seemingly at will throughout the longer stints that they ran.

Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest in the second McLaren. Both he and Hamilton tried a set of soft tyres in the final minutes of the session, but unlike Williams Toyota, did not find a large performance jump.

Nico Rosberg used the soft tyres to good effect as he set the fifth fastest time in the final minutes ahead of the BMW Sauber duo of Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld. Alex Wurz also ran the soft tyre to vault eighth fastest in his FW29.

Toyota looked strong all morning with Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli ninth and 11th respectively as they continue the good form shown in the recent Silverstone tests. Rubens Barrichello led the way within the Honda camp with the tenth best time with Jenson Button in 15th in what they expect to be a tough weekend.

Anthony Davidson recorded the 12th best time in his Super Aguri Honda and that solid pace is fairly common for the team in the Friday morning practice session. Takuma Sato was 16th in the sister SA07.

Celebrating 30 years in Formula One, Heikki Kovalainen and Giancarlo Fisichella set the 13th and 14th fastest times ahead of Sato and the Red Bull Renault duo of Mark Webber and David Coulthard who spun out of the session in the Luffield complex. Toro Rosso and Spyker brought up the tail of the timesheets.

    Coulthard Deal Confirmed
Veteran to line up with Webber again in '08
    06/07/07 14:38

Red Bull Racing confirmed today that they have extended its contract with David Coulthard to the end of the 2008 Formula One season.

This means the team’s driver pairing for next year remains unchanged.

Coulthard will on Sunday start his 221st Grand Prix in a career that dates back to Barcelona 1994. During that time, Coulthard has notched up 13 wins, 12 poles and 61 Pole Positions.

    Stepney interrogated by Italian police
Aiming to prove his innocence - Lawyer
    06/07/07 12:51

An 'astonished' Nigel Stepney was interrogated for more than three hours by Italian police upon returning from a holiday in the Philippines on Thursday.

The newspaper La Stampa, adding to reports that said the sacked Ferrari employee's house near Maranello was raided for a second time, said the 47-year-old Briton was then interviewed as part of the alleged industrial espionage case.

Stepney's lawyer reportedly said: "Mr Stepney answered their questions and expressed his astonishment about the accusations against him.

    "He will prove his innocence.
    "

Ferrari have clarified, meanwhile, that English police are not yet involved in the case against McLaren's Chief Designer Mike Coughlan, amid confusion surrounding the Italian team's claim that a 'search warrant' had been issued.

"Ferrari reviewed the evidence and consulted London lawyers towards the end of last week," a statement read. "Ferrari then made an urgent application to the High Court in London on 2 July for the court's assistance."

    Differing fortunes for the Brits
    Hamilton quick, Button hurts back

Lewis Hamilton gave hope to swarms of patriotic countrymen by topping the opening practice session at Silverstone on Friday morning.

A record (US) $20 million has been gambled on the British rookie by fellow Britons ahead of his first home race in Northamptonshire this Sunday.

Despite a couple of spins, Hamilton went quicker than both Ferraris and team-mate Fernando Alonso in overcast conditions.

"Hamilton has sparked a betting frenzy on the race and the betting turnover is up to ten times what is was last year - when Jenson Button was an outsider in the race," said a spokesman for the bookmaker William Hill.

In completely contrasting fortunes, Hamilton's countryman Button ended the session a distant fifteenth and aggravated an injury in his back over the bumps in the high speed Beckett's complex.

The Honda driver will sit out the afternoon session.

Another Briton, Scotland's David Coulthard, ended his own session in the gravel, at the wheel of his Red Bull car that is uniquely plastered with thousands of photographs of fans.

    @ZORIX

I liked the new rules that makes it mandatory to use both the type of tyres in a race. It makes it a lot more interesting as you can see varying performance levels. I am so glad to see the bizare 1 tyre per race rule go.

Raikkonen and Ferrari top Friday practice
    British GP - Second practice
    06/07/07 16:49

Ferrari may have been beaten to the head of the timesheets this morning, but this afternoon at a blustery Silverstone circuit Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa dominated the second 90-minute practice session.

Raikkonen led the way with a best lap of 1:20.639s, just under half a second clear of Massa. Both drivers had small issues, with Raikkonen in particular understeering off at Copse twice as he put in long runs on worn tyres. Massa also had a grassy moment as he took too much kerbing at Becketts and this put him offline into Chapel. Like Raikkonen, it was fairly insignificant and between them they put in a good number of laps and enjoy a big advantage over their main rival.

Ralf Schumacher was an impressive third fastest in his Toyota with an identical lap time to Lewis Hamilton in the leading McLaren Mercedes. Schumacher was on the pace at the very start of the session and seemed to hit problems with his TF107 after half an hour. After some time out of the car, the German was able to resume and finish his programme.

Hamilton, fastest this morning, will have to be content with fourth overall in his MP4-22, with team-mate Fernando Alonso close behind in sixth position - behind the second Toyota of Jarno Trulli.

Nico Rosberg and Alex Wurz recorded the seventh and eighth fastest times respectively for the Williams Toyota team ahead of Mark Webber in his newly liveried Red Bull Renault.
David Coulthard, new contract in pocket, was 14th fastest in the sister RB3.

Anthony Davidson traditionally runs well in Friday practice and today was no exception as he set the tenth best time in his Super Aguri Honda ahead of Renault’s Heikki Kovalainen and Giancarlo Fisichella.

BMW Sauber did not show much pace today but not a great deal should be read into that with Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld 13th and 15th. Takuma Sato set the 16th best time in the second Super Aguri ahead of Rubens Barrichello in the Honda. Christian Klien was a surprise call up today as Jenson Button opted to sit out the session due to some back pain. The Honda test driver did a solid job lapping close to the pace of Barrichello as he claimed the 18th best time.

Scott Speed and Tonio Liuzzi proved closely matched at Toro Rosso as they lapped just a fraction ahead of Christijan Albers in the leading Spyker. Adrian Sutil brought up the bottom of the timesheets as his eventful session ended in the wall at Copse following a high speed spin.
